@@PingLo, I appreciate your saying that. I have a profound respect for the men AND women who have stood up to serve our country. It's not an easy choice, and everyone answers the call for different reasons, but nevertheless, they answer the call. DorknRok is among the many here with whom I have sincere gratitude.

    But. There are exceptions.

I actually had written a frikkin book after I made that post, but my tablet decided to get rid of it before I got a chance to post it.

I actually have a fairly skeptical view on this sudden change to policy. When I joined the army, my job was combat engineer. Naturally this job was not open to females, so all of the time I spent in training was done in the company of all males. There simply were no females. Even when I got to my unit, I did not work around females. There was one female in the entire company, but she was in supply and rarely got out and around to talk to people. And I'll be honest, it was pretty nice. After a few years in the military, you get used to a certain degree of freedom of language. I got my first dose of females in training during a reclass. Instead of worrying about the next day's training, a handful of our peers were more worried about impressing one of the females (one of about 6 in the company). This led to one getting caught having sex in a port-a-jon, and then subsequently getting chaptered out of the army. Unnecessary to say the least.

When I became a drill sergeant, this came to a crashing halt. Suddenly I had to worry about who was listening, and how they felt about what I was saying. I'm not implying that female presence is at fault for the continued "political correctness" that is shaping our force, but it certainly makes it harder. But it's not even just the female presence, America and its youth is gradually getting lazier and less and less competent. They aren't accustomed to working hard or dealing with difficult situations or even handling day to day life without everyday conveniences. Add on top of that having to deal with females who use their "time of the month" as an excuse to get out of training, or call one of my peers out on sexual assault simply because they heard something they thought was offensive (he lost his hat). This simply wouldn't have happened when I came through. If someone took offense to something, they rarely spoke up about it and instead grew a pair and dealt with it. Now you have to pick your fights. Now you have to worry about pissing off the wrong female (and when push comes to shove, they believe the private over the drill sergeant every time).

I won't say all females are like this; I agree with the opinion that there are a handful and more who are willing to bear the brunt of the rigors of life overseas and abroad shoulder to shoulder with males. But I don't think that their capability is all that is in question. Females in combat environments have long presented multiple conflicts. One concern I have is the dilemma of "fight or flight". Many have said that they wouldn't care about sex if the person beside them could carry them wounded out of harm's way. But what if you were in charge of triage? What if you were asked to choose between a man with a sucking chest wound, and a female screaming out in pain because she was shot in the leg? Are you, as a male with your deep seeded virtues of protecting females, capable of determining without bias who receives treatment first? This is one of many issues. But I will say that contrary to popular belief, there are females already outside the wire seeing combat. The restriction previously held prevented them from being recognized for their efforts and bravery. Chances are, no matter who you are, you are going to see some level of combat, especially if you were in Iraq or in or going to Afghanistan.

I don't want to get into all the complications, and I don't want anyone to think I'm sexist (I apologize if I have offended any females). My true purpose in the military is training, and I enjoy the hell out of getting the opportunity to help save lives and make our army better. I remain skeptical for now, but I guess only time will tell.

I guess I'm more traditional than most. I don't think women should be in combat. There is a huge difference in men and women that political correctness demands we ignore. I'm generalizing, so there will always be exceptions to the rule. By nature women are nurturers, which makes combat tougher for them. They also have weaker upper body strength, so if we are applying the same physical requirements across the board less women will make it (you see this in law enforcement, few women can do the push-ups). I think war is a man's "game", we are physically, mentally and emotionally better suited for it. Having women in combat also puts the men in their unit more at risk because we inherently want to protect our women. We have a deep seeded need to be the knight in shining armor.

I'm not saying there aren't women capable of combat and performing well. Just that men are better suited for it.

was my first post so unclear? i just want to say that your eyes need more time to overview or get from point a-b with a widescreen. and for egoshooter a 4:3 is way more efficent for faster reaction because of more compact frame.

    no technical issues at all

i´ve made the mistake and bought a widescreen a few years ago. its cool for films or slower games but for a egoshooter like COD it isnt that good.
the distance point a-b of eyemovement increase a lot and u lose time. surely just splitseconds but enough to get killed before u pull the trigger.
    serious lack of overview.

decreases my score and skill. but to lazy to run a 4:3 screen beside

I have 5 or 6 more in pieces in a box
its takes a long time and alot of spare parts to learn to fly a heli. i would recommend buying this controller
    http://www.hobbypart...nnel-radio.html
fly sky has cheaper ones but youll never outgrow this one and at under 100 its a great deal.
    then purchase THIS simulator
    http://www.rcflightsim.com/
its close to 50 but just as good of flight dynamics if not better than the expensive sims (flight simulator, g4, proflight any of them) the free ones are ok but dont really help you learn to fly a REAL r/c heli, seriously consider the one I recommended
then practice on the sim 100 hours, when you have completed 100 hours practice 200 more and then practice more

here is a great instruction video. Radd is awesome and if you follow his suggestions you will pick it up in no time

    hi shamu

    totally agree, but

unions need to be a kind of opposition. and i would assure that the majority know exactly how far they could go before the company start loss-making.
and no ceo on that planet like strong unions. so they use the economic freedom to go abroad into countries with less rights and cheaper productive forces

but when it ends in 2 part.time jobs for the average citizen just because its a law of free market. then the market is just sick.
in germany we say "properties bound"(hopefully the right translation )...that means u have a huge responsibiltiy even for your workers.
its an ongoing process of establishing laws for minimum wages, so that even the competitor, within the country, have the same conditions.
and yea, u can also reach the jobs-abroad-problem with punitiv tariff, to beware the national market suffer under inflation of prices for goods, and theirfore the average loan because your work-force
    is not too expensive anymore.
e.g. apple is btw a shame. 2012 :73k staff, and the average aquired profit of one worker was 573k$ and all know the loans of a chinese worker. would that be an american job, with 30k.per anno, wouldn´t be to much to stay wealthy and grow.
and all struggle to get one of these 600$ phones...i dont get it.

and i struggle talking about politics in english ...lol

better less sweets instead of more and more unacceptable loans.
twinkie is a product of hostess brands, owned by a group of investmentfirms.
total revenue´08 was 2,7 bln $.....if they really wanted to go on, they could just shrink.
but they declare bankrupcy so that the investors could sell all assets for a cheap and fast dollar for the last quarter.
because they dont give a shit

never ever undermine a union pls. one of a few tools to raise your voice as a worker/citizen.

    peace

First understand that I am a retiree of the United Auto Workers union just so you do not think I am coming from a biased position. I also served as an elected union official.

Very often unions are their own worst enemy through restrictive job classifications and even the seniority system which allows drones to continue to work while more competent union members are laid off.

Unions are not without fault in jobs leaving this country for more a more favorable economic position.

Unions members need to realize that the company must make money and must remain competitive with non union or foreign competition. Until the two sides realize they need each other to succeed we in the U.S. will continue to lose work to non union shops and foreign competition.

A good start would be opening the books for a fair and honest review of the companies competitive position, in it's industry, prior to contract negotiations or demands.

And don't even get me started on public service employees who hold students and the general public hostage with their demands.

PS; I would add since you are from Germany that some of our old school journeymen German Tool and Die makers were among the best tool makers I have ever encountered. Their work ethic was outstanding and they knew how to teach an apprentice. Pride in craftsmanship set them apart. You just don't see it like that anymore. I still can see them in their bib overalls and bow tie along with outstanding personal care of their tools.
