  1. @Icequeen Vitamin C is not going to prevent you from getting infected....avoidance of contact with infected people is. Containment is no longer possible. Our only hope to minimize the death toll from Covid-19 in this country is to promote behavior that minimizes contagion and flattens out the infection curve to help spread out the number of people that need hospitalization over a greater time span. If this doesn’t happen, the spike in cases requiring hospitalization will overwhelm our system and create a cascade effect that increases the case fatality rate. Any other interpretation of the available data is simply being in denial, or due to a lack of understanding. I don’t generally hope I am wrong about anything...but this is an exception. I pray that I am wrong about how this will ultimately play out.
  2. Also this from the American Hospital Association:
  3. I would encourage everyone to read through this Twitter feed. She basically summarizes every concern that I have in a thoughtful and concise manner based on actual data.
  4. You really have a thing for these celebrity doctors huh? Did you read the Wall St. Journal article I posted earlier detailing how the actual doctors on the front lines in China were fairing? Since you seem to think this is all just a big hoax, maybe you should book a cruise to Asia right now. I hear there are some awesome deals available.
  5. Here is another article everyone should read, which gives first hand accounts from the medical professionals working in Wuhan China. https://www.wsj.com/articles/if-we-fail-what-happens-to-you-all-one-doctors-life-on-the-coronavirus-front-lines-11583344415 For the record @Sixgun Wuhan is sometimes called "the Chicago of China" and is one of the most affluent and modern cities in China, including 300+ research institutes and investments from 230 of the Fortune 500 firms.
  6. Lol...okay buddy, I'm sure your world travels have made you so much wiser than the academics at Australian National University are. My guess is that you didn't even bother to read the paper. Here is the link again if you are interested in opening your mind to possibly learning something. Sorry, but it's a little more work than reading something written by Dr, Oz https://anu.prezly.com/coronavirus-is-highly-uncertain-and-the-costs-could-be-high?asset_type=attachment&asset_id=171409#attachment-171409ttachment-171409
  7. https://news.yahoo.com/coronavirus-spreads-one-study-predicts-101552222.html There is also a link in the article to the actual paper written by the Australian National University
  8. If you are referring to the data out of Italy and Korea, yes I did get that from someone on Twitter that I follow and highly respect. I don’t claim to be an on the ground reporter traveling to the hot zones collecting data myself.
  9. lol okay pig boss whatever you say.
  10. Greetings friends, I would like to start this post by stating that my goal is not to instill panic, but to provide an analysis on this situation which I believe I am qualified to do and to perhaps prompt some of you to take this Covid-19 situation more seriously. I have an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry, a Doctor of Medicine degree and completed my residency training at the Mayo Clinic. I practiced medicine for 10 years. I have co-authored several scientific papers and know how to interpret scientific data. I have spent dozens of hours over the last 6 weeks combing through the available data surrounding this virus outbreak. This is not “just another flu”. The main reason for serious concern is the fact that our medical system is not prepared or equipped to deal with the surge in demand we are likely to see as this situation unfolds. While our government did eventually cut off travel arrivals from China, it was too little too late. Hundreds of thousands of people from China arrived in America before this ban went into effect, many of them likely infected and asymptomatic. Additionally, our CDC and FDA were asleep at the wheel, and in typical government bureaucratic fashion fucked the management of this up due to their desire to maintain total control of the testing procedure. This is now a situation of containment. It’s a numbers game. Yes, if you are under 65 and healthy you are not likely to become seriously ill if infected with Covid-19. However, do you have family, friends or neighbors that are older, or have pre-existing health problems? Are you willing to be so cavalier about this outbreak and be the reason one of these people ends up hospitalized? We do not have the capacity here in America to deal with tens of thousands of people that need an ICU bed. We have about 100k ICU beds here in the USA. At this very moment, approximately 75-80k of those beds are occupied with people sick from all sorts of regular ailments (yes, including some with “regular flu”) Below are some recently updated numbers from Italy and Korea to hopefully wake you “it’s just the flu” bros the fuck up. Italy -Total cases +25% 3089—->3858 -Death Toll +38% 107—->148 -ICU +19% 295—>351 -Hospitalized +33% 1346—->1790 Horrific data points out of Lombardy, Italy 9-10% cases in ICU 10% of doctors and nurses can’t work because they tested positive South Korea -Total cases 5766—>6284 -Death toll 35—>42 Almost all of the data coming out of China has been complete bullshit. Including all of the latest data showing that they have almost no new cases and most people have recovered. At one point in China, 700 million people were locked down and forced to home quarantine. Do you honestly believe they would do that for “just another flu”? Here in America we have been behind the curve and have not been doing the appropriate amount of testing and social distancing needed to slow the spread enough to prevent eventually overwhelming our healthcare system. South Korea has done a much better job with this, and they still are dealing with a rapid increase in cases. If this doesn’t change soon, we are in big trouble here in America. We cannot build a hospital in 10 days like they did in China. We do not have excess ventilators and nursing staff. If you do not take this situation seriously, you are actually becoming part of the problem. I wish all of you the best. I consider all of you my friends, and I hope that none of you ultimately become sick, or have a family member who becomes sick. I’d recommend obvious common sense stuff such as frequent hand washing and using hand sanitizer, but I’d also suggest avoiding crowded situations if they are not necessary. It’s possible that if enough people change their behavior, and all of the large conferences and gatherings are canceled or postponed we can minimize the impact of this on our society. If not, we are going to have a similar situation to China and Italy very soon. It’s entirely possible it’s too late to stop that from occurring. Be prepared for school closures and travel disruptions. Ideally, be prepared to spend a minimum of two weeks (three-four better) without leaving your home. Have enough food, medicine, (alcohol) etc that you could hunker down and avoid contact with others and public places. Chances of needing to do this are not astronomical, but they are also not zero. Peace out and good luck.
  11. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
  12. Miss you Queenie..hope all is well.
  13. Very sad news indeed. I saw Rush live 5 or 6 times, and had the good fortune to get backstage and hang out with them in 1990 or 1991 at Irvine Meadows Amphitheater. My best friend at the time..his girlfriend's uncle handled their lighting at their shows..so she got us backstage. Got the meet all of them as well as a few California Angels players. Peart only came out and said hi to everyone briefly, and then retreated back to his dressing room. Geddy and Alex hung out with everyone for like 90 minutes. It was quite an experience for my 23 year old self at the time which I shall never forget. Here is a link to an Obituary if interested: https://www.theguardian.com/music/2020/jan/12/neil-peart-obituary
  14. I have Arma 2 and Operation Arrowhead that I bought a long time ago (5 years ago maybe??)...I was trying to play some Zombie / Day-Z type servers for a couple months, but just wasn't as fun as playing with you fellow idiots. Haven't played for a long time...will try to get in there at some point soon. I'll have to find a place with the control map...because I can't remember any of them.
  15. Hey @Majbasilmy understanding of how it works, is that the server bases the decision on the average number of minutes played on the server over the last 30 days. So that means that that the other two non XI people had more playing time than you did over that period. Perhaps @Sammycan lend more clarity to my answer?? I might have gotten it completely wrong..but this is what I remember from the last time there was a post about it.
  16. Hey @loaderXI What about this other one that they sell in rectangular form: https://www.potterybarn.com/products/pb-poker-table/ The description of the table construction is different than the round one. It says table is "made of solid hardwood, engineered hardwood and veneer with iron stretchers." Is this significantly better construction than the other table made with MDF?
  17. @loaderXI Yeah I've seen some of those, but the main thing that drew me to this table I posted from Pottery Barn is that it is a 60" diameter...and I seem to only see 48" diameter tables everywhere else like the two you linked. Looking for slightly larger...may have to keep looking and also look into Amish makers...didn't know there were any here in FL but I'll see what I can find. Thanks for the feedback @YACCster
  18. Thinking about buying this poker table set for my game room ( https://www.potterybarn.com/products/pb-round-poker-table-mp/ ) but I can't find any reviews on their website or anywhere else online, and I have never purchased furniture from them before. Wondering if anyone here has any experience with their furniture and if the quality is good? Peace out
  19. My deepest condolences to his family. We greatly appreciated everything he did for this community.
