  1. In the pass I have used jv16 power tools with no problems. Decided to run them again and it uninstalled most of my Steam games, Windows Media 12 (?) run, regedit  and command prompt. I assume it did this to make my computer faster...I thought I had backed up my computer before this...but I think jv16 deleted that also in the name of speed.

So...I need to repair my Win 7 Pro. Everything I see online requires a installation disk...not really sure where mine is...thought about downgrading to Windows 8.1 but not sure if it will support 32 gigs of memory.

My specs are in my signature...

    Any thoughts??

Ugh.. take it to someone who can do it for you.  Or find one of us here to help you remotely.  You are one of those users that know just enough to fuck everything up on your machine (no offense).  Always be weary of system booster/reg cleaners/performance enhancing applications.

Downgrading to 8.1??   If you talk to anyone who's been in the IT industry for a while, you will find that 8.1 is actually pretty good; but you have to be able to accept a bit of change.  My advice would be to reload; whether it be Win7 or Win 8.1.  And next time, setup restore points... gl hf

  2. I'd look for an I-7 bundle.  Like a 4790+MB combo.  I just picked up a bundle from Microcenter for around $330.  And it screams.. I'm historically an avid AMD user, but I decided to move from an 8120 8 core AMD to the Intel 4770 and its a huge difference.  I'm not sure I'll go back to AMD.

  3. From my experience, linux servers run much smoother and are much easier to troubleshoot these types of issues.

Windows users reinstall back to the basics and do all the service packs and security updates again. Linux users find and fix the problem.

Maybe that's the issue.  Trying to use linux mentality on a windows server ;)   just a joke of course.

No it was meant as a metaphor and a bit of a cliche. When there is a problem Windows users reinstall back to the basics and do all the service packs and security updates again. Linux users find and fix the problem.

I will be monitoring logs thoughtout the evening, except during dinner and the game, and see what happens. To answer your question... nothing. Or should have been nothing. As I had mentioned in previous posts during all the different moves some server files got lost. This particular issue might have been one of them because my local copy of the file was different than the one on the server.

    Please be patient.

I've mentioned this in another thread, but just want to re-iterate that high ping players have nothing to do with server lag.  Connection/redirect... you may be on to something...

  4. Without analyzing anything its really hard to tell on the surface as to what's wrong.  I do know we used to play FT 5-6 years ago with the same player slots and we did not have these issues.   What has changed?  I know we need to accommodate everyone, but I think it could be a good idea to look at other providers not located in NY.  Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas; shit I don't care if its Germany if it helps us narrow down the issue.

  5. I don't know if this makes any sense or not. But last night playing on the ftag server we had a player that his ping was all over the place, he was spiking up in the 800's, while he was playing the whole server was having problems. Belted was in there and Hunter I'm sure they noticed also. I left there and went to play on the dm server, a while later the same player came in pinging that way in that server, while he was playing I asked him if he had rebooted his machine and told him that the other players were not pinging so high like he was. He left the game and when he did, the server instantly cleared up and pings went down to normal. So I guess I'm really asking a question here, can one player pinging so high and it ranging from like 230 to 800 and something constantly effect a whole server or the game?

No..  The idea that high-ping players lag the server has been a pretty pervasive myth in FPS gaming for a while now. You'd have to go all the way back to Doom and similar-era peer-to-peer lockstep methods to see it in an FPS. Some RTS games use something similar, which generally isn't an issue, but might be responsible for it being in the popular consensus.

Duck,  I would be happy to assist in troubleshooting all the COD server latency/lag issues if needed.

  6. lol Yea i get a lot of shit in this country, because i think building your fortune off the backs of the poor while paying them unfair wages is kinda fucked up.

I guess I'm just not a greedy person. I would rather see the community prosper as a whole than have a couple wealthy people and everyone else be poor.  of my friends give me shit for this because it is kind of socialist, but i think some aspects of socialism are good.

I don't need too much, and wouldn't try to take more than I need.

I think if I were a billionaire I would also be a huge philathropist, and I'm glad to see some billionaires are starting to realize that they DONT need all that money, and it could be better helping others.

sometimes it is very hard. coming from a disadvantaged home and coming out of poverty, and having to drop out of school in 8th grade because your parents need you to be a migrant worker with them so the family can live.. its tough. I wouldn't say these people don't have the discpline. it is a vicious cycle. they drop out of school to help the family, the wages are shit, they don't have the education to figure out how to fix it, or if they stay in school they don't have the money to go to college.

My girlfriends parents both had to leave school at an early age because they had to start working to help out their family. They aren't stupid or lazy or anything. its necessity. not everyone in this country is born with a silver spoon in their mouth and are afforded the opportunities to advance themselves.

I grew up with numerous kids where HS hit and you never saw them again, because their parents would yank them out of school to become migrant workers.

What is "unfair"? Again, it is not a business' job to support you.  They pay you for a service.  To be honest, fast food work doesn't require a whole lot of brain cells, so why do they deserve to make more than someone who has an education in a specific trade at an entry level position? Who needs an education when you can get $15/hour at Taco Bell? To me, its completely backwards thinking. And you are right; not everyone in this country is born with a silver spoon, but EVERYONE has the opportunity to advance themselves.  I don't care where you come from; you control your own destiny..

  7. It has to do with greedy business owners also. looking out for only themselves while not really caring about the country or world as a whole. like @@little_old_man companies make sure to cut hours so that employees don't reach full time status and they don't have to give them benefits.

Some companies do pay fair wages and they are doing excellent. for example costco starts at 11.50/hr , In-N-Out Burger starts at 10.50/hr, Traders Joes average is 13.20 an hour and starts at 9. They have an oppurtunity for 2/hr raise every year. Zappos the online shoe retailer call center employees get paid 16/hr. Ben & Jerry's starts at 15.97 an hour.

In my honest opinion no one needs billions of dollars... It is pure greed that is going to be the downfall of this country, and maybe the world.

Back to LOM posted a while back.  Fast food/minimum wage jobs are not meant to support the well-being of an individual.  Minimum wage was put in place to protect young people from getting taken advantage of; not to make sure you had enough $$ to survive.  And I may not NEED a billion dollars, but if I earned it, its mine.  Bottom line is that it wouldn't impact the large fast food chains, and it would make people semi-happy for a very short term, then they realize their lifestyle is adjusting to the increased wage and they don't have the discipline to budget or save or educate themselves to move up professionally or in life.  They are then pissed at the man for not providing handouts and want to blame everyone else for their shortcomings.

  8. @@DeemerXI more on the housing shortage thing. first people moved to the city because thats where businesses, and factories were. urban sprawl started to happen and these factories and businesses moved further out of the city. most of the people who lived near where they worked could not afford to relocate to where the businesses moved... this created ghettos.  people turned to drugs and alcohol to cope, and others in the ghetto found they could make money off peoples addiction and turned to dealing (because there weren't many other jobs anyways)

That is another topic completely that I believe would cloud your original question. It was more of an example of how government focuses its efforts the wrong way.

  9. Our brains tend to focus on straight-line causation in thinking about social problems and that we have a difficult time seeing the feedback effects that are actually dominant. Because of this, we concentrate on symptoms and not causes and we thereby create policies that are ineffective, at best. For example, in the 1960s, the housing shortage in the inner city led analysts to the “obvious” conclusion that the government needed to build more houses. Housing shortage? Build houses! But, the real problem was the economic stagnation in the inner city which meant that people living there lacked the income that would have paid for the housing. Had policy makers focused instead on creating jobs, the houses would have followed automatically. Instead, we ended up exacerbating the problem by creating an incentive (i.e., low-cost housing) to stay in an area that was no longer economically viable.

Likewise, the most effective means of increasing the incomes of the poor is not to legislate an increase in their wages, but to stimulate the demand for labor to the point that firms are induced to pay more by choice. Make them want to pay in excess of the federal minimum wage because they cannot otherwise find enough employees to meet customers’ demands. And we have the tool to accomplish this through federal deficit spending.* This is precisely what we should be doing right now and should have been doing aggressively since the onset of the crisis. In fact, we are moving in the opposite direction.

This is not to say that the federal minimum wage law does not have a role to play. It is intended to protect our most vulnerable from exploitation, as are various other labor laws. Such circumstances will not go away even in a very tight labor market (though they will become more rare). But, it should not be used as a means to reduce poverty. As argued above, it can’t. All these discussions have done is obscured the real problem. We need to get this very important discussion back on track and stop talking about raising wages and start talking about stimulating employment. The latter will do far more to raise the former than anything we can legislate.

  10. This is where we come out and was actually this was all a trick. All we did was change the IP address - the server itself hasn't moved at all. This has all been a placebo effect.

Will keep you updated when we have decided what to do from your comments etc.

Then we definitely have a consensus that we are all unhappy with the provider.  Location is irrelevant, if you have a shitty provider or server.  It seems we have had nothing but issues with them....

  11. my ping still bounces around a bit....def higher....and it spikes as high as 300...didnt have this problem on ny servers...the temp server is just way too laggy for me now i ll guess i have to wait it out

This is EXACTLY how it was for me on the old NY server.  I've got a more consistent sub 100 ping from this PA server.  We shouldn't have to reinvent the wheel here.  We cant be the only multi-country clan out there that play on the same server.  If we are to to this right, we would need 3 people from the USA.  West Coast, Midwest, East Coast and 3 spread out Euro players to team up to find the best location/provider.  We can't please everyone, but if we put enough research and testing behind it, I think we could please the majority.
