  1. Another great game that kept me glued to the TV along with some family members visiting on Sat evening for Fathers Day.

First period belonged to the Blackhawks. From the second period on into OT the Bruins stepped it up and prevailed.

Bruins were very physical and I think wore the Blackhawks down by pounding them with checks. The 2-1 result good for me since I am rooting for the Bruins to take it all.

If the Bruins can keep up the physical play I feel fairly confident they will win. Teams are very well matched but I think Boston has a significant edge with physical play and will wear Chicago down over the length of the series.

Kudos to both goalies, both are hot at the right time.

    Bruins in 6.

  2. I have to say that this is completely foreign to me. I have never owned a gun, and never lived in an area where I felt I needed one. I have never been an advocate for the NRA as well. That doesn't mean, that I don't wish other to own them. If someone needs to use this type of force to protect themselves or a loved one, and does it in the most responsible way, then Im all for that..  Good post guys.

I cannot help but notice all the focus on guns being needed for protection. There is much more to that that is being overlooked and ignored.

    Shooting is also a sport!

While I do have a permit to carry I do not have it for protection. When I shot for a local club we traveled to matches often eating meals out. It was better to carry your gun concealed while you ate than to leave guns in the car.

I shoot for the sport and the interaction with my sons and grandsons. As an honest citizen with no criminal record why should I not be allowed to have or carry a gun?

All these proposed restrictive gun laws do absolutely nothing but hurt the honest and responsible gun owner. The criminal element will still have their guns.

Make laws targeting the bad guys such as allowing police to randomly stop persons with criminal records and search them for weapons possession. The right of privacy should not apply depending on criminal history. Hell, we can have mandatory drug testing why can't we check for illegal possession of a firearm particularly with regard to criminal histories.?

Focus on the criminal element not gun owners who abide by the law.

  3. A herring gull (sky rat) shat all over my wife's tee shirt, today, when it was outside drying on the washing line.

Too bad she was not wearing it at the time. Here having a bird shit on you is considered by some to be good luck. Can't quite figure out why.

BTW, seagulls are protected here also. They have made quite a come back over the last few years. If it continues they just might lose their protection. They might best start practicing birth control.

  4. I actually have little reason to root for the Bruins other than former Flyer  Jaromir Jagr and now retired Mark Recchi who I think is still involved with the team.

I admired both when they played here in Philly.

The thing is hockey is the one sport I can watch and enjoy even if y home team is out of it.

  5. Evil; I hope you find it in your heart and circumstances to allow another dog into your  life. Not to replace the one you lost but to earn its own special place in your heart.

Born into a family with dogs and never being without one for my 69 years I speak from experience. Even consider a rescue where you can make a positive contribution to a dog whose future may have been bleak until someone takes them into their home. Rescue is a great thing.

They will not replace your loss, nor should they be expected to replace your loss. Let them create their own place in your family. I have found a new pup to be a great healer. Yet not one who has passed has ever been forgotten. I still cherish many fond memories.

I trust I will have many friends waiting for me when I approach the Rainbow Bridge.

  6. As a pet owner my heart sincerely goes out to you. :(

Take what comfort you can in the life you had shared together.

The Rainbow Bridge - Author Unknown

'There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called
the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow
Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass.

When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There
is always food and water and warm spring weather. All the animals who have been
ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are
made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and
    times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small
thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and
looks into the distance. Her bright eyes are intent; her eager body begins to
quiver. Suddenly she begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass,
her legs carrying her faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you
and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion. The
happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and
you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your
life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated.'

  7. A grand game!

You did a wise thing with lessons.

A word to the wise about practice.

If you loose concentration or become tired while practicing stop the practice immediately. Just like good practice can help, bad practice, where you lose focus, can do irreptable harm.

FYI, I once played to a 4 USGA handicap. Those days are long gone and I am on the shelf with probable rotator cuff injury. :no:unknw:

For me golf is out. :crybaby:

  8. While I browse the XI forums rather regularly I generally do not open links posted in forum topics.

If I recognize the page I might give it a shot if it seems of interest, Other than that I do not open links anymore than I would from an unknown e-mail address.

Perhaps I am being over cautious but I prefer to exercise care in opening links.

Am I over reacting? Are there virus protections when a link is posted in the forum? You get the point.

    Just curious.

  9. I give the Brits on whom the joke was playerd credit, at least they are washing their hands.

Unlike a lot of others pigs out there.

Damn, I hate using public restrooms. Unfortunately the nature of my job, traveling, often requires I do so as a necessary evil.

FYI, hotel lobbies generally have good facilities as do Harley dealerships.

Always nice to look at what is new at a Harley dealer anyway. I spent a lot of money on Harley accessories simply because I needed a bathroom break. :no
