  2. Did find this regarding the neatdesk scans.... I purchased the scanner to try it out before recommending it to clients (I don't like surprises). Overall, it's a good concept and a reasonable price. Cons: - scanning is slow. It takes about 2 minutes to scan an average sized receipt. - integration with QB is marginal. While it does import transactions, it does them as Journal Entries. If you have purchases with multiple accounts on one receipt, it splits then into multiple transactions, making it difficult to reconcile your credit card statement. - direct import into QB only allows you to select one debit account and one credit account per import. - as far as I can tell, the data is stored in it's own database. This could be a pro or con. Pros: - it does store images of your receipts and allows you to search through the stored images. It would be great if you're trying to reduce the amount of paper you keep around. - would work great for personal receipts and reducing the amount of filing required for personal expenses while still allowing you access to receipts if you need them. - The software is pretty robust and allows you scan business cards and integrate with Outlook (haven't tried that) as well as scanning receipts and directly creating expense reports. That could be a big timesaver. Conclusion: While I was disappointed with the QuickBooks integration, I will use the scanner and software for personal expenses and will recommend it to clients who do a lot of expense reports. I forsee being able to rid my personal files of a lot of paper and going with the online images instead. Next, I plan to look into PaperSave.com and see if it would be beneficial to any of my clients.
  3. If I understand correctly its not the scanner so much as getting QB to import as a TRANSACTION not a journal entry..... We just recently switched to the cloud version of QB on my accountants advice....I dont think cloud vs local is the issue either...I have to do some month end stuff in it today....gonna look around and see if I can help....a years worth of receipts to input really stinks...lol.... (PS. I have the neatdesk scanner...love it...absolutly...I am going to look at its export options too....)

  10. I have an ice fishing story....so I had this basstender polyethelyne boat 9' 9" long weight about 80lbs and I used it everywhere....so one winter I get the idea that this would make a great ice fishing sled too...loaded it up with the gear and out on the ice we go.....fish for hours...nothing...so there is this spot in the middfle of the lake that wasnt frozen and looked good to fish...so hey...i got my sled/boat with me lets go try there.,,we start running like a bobsled team with the boat....get close to where the ice gets thin and jump in.....wheeee....we made it onto the water and had a wonderful time fishing until....it was time to leave....we couldnt get back onto the ice....for anything.....after 5 hours of tossing the anchor out onto the ice as far as we could and pulling and smashing the ice as we went we finally got to a point where i could snag a tree on shore with a mushroom anchor and rope.... thought for sure we were gonna need a rescue but we madse it....

  16. I guess I just dont understand those who feel guns are dangerous....so are cars, some jobs, fire pits, fireworks, crossing the street...etc.... It's people that are the problem......
  17. Guns this and Guns that..... I have had guns since before I had kids...as they got older I got them to the range and training and gun saftey and they never had an issue with guns being "cool" they just were something else to get hurt with if you werent careful and safe...same with the stove.......same with fire, fireworks and ladders....instead of getting rid of everything thats dangerous in my home I spent the time to raise my children correctly....not saying that a child with issues should have parents who own guns, but if we spend as much time with our kids as we do with fighting issues we end up with good kids.... Put some of this shit back on parents and not on guns....you can be killed with a bat as fast as a gun if someone truly wants to harm you...and there are those who are going to say "but if he didnt have a gun so many wouldnt have died" Well I could counter that if responsible people carried guns that kid would have never gotten past 3 dead....
  18. Got thsi from friend who is IT guy.... --------------------------------- This is by far the WORST virus I’ve ever seen in the history of working on computers. So horrible that I had to email my friends/clients/family about it. Basically what it does is it AES 256bit encrypts all your files with .block or .police extension and forces the user to fork over money in hopes of getting their files unlocked. If you want to skip to the ending this users machine had to be completely wiped out and they lost all their data. See below the general question that came into IT Services today; Guys, Anyone ever seen a ".block" extension caused by a virus ? I tried multiple tools and restored all file extensions the files still won't work. After working with the users machine for over an hour my findings and conclusion is below; After much research I found that you need to enter %APPDATA% to get four files. The primary and most important files being Initia1Log.txt & Initia1Log.txt.block that hold the AES encryption key used to block all the files on the machine. The secondary and sometimes not used ok.txt and ok.txt.block. Thing is if you unknowingly run Combofix or TDSKiller it will flag these “highly necessary” files and delete them from the machine. If these file are nonexistent you CAN NOT decrypt your files. An alternate to recovering the file is a program called Piriform Recuva, freeware undeleted software, which I recommend we all add to our IT USB Sticks. After you have both files available you run a piece of software called decrypt_birele.exe in the same directory with Initia1Log.txt and Initia1Log.txt.block from command prompt. It will decrypt and produce a AES key used to be used with te94decrypt.exe –k 188. There are many variants of this particular virus one will have .police extension which te94decrypt.exe will use –k 186 instead of 188. The .block extension along with the AES 256 Key uses switch 188 when decrypting the files. Some important notes on this virus are; With this individual ticket it seems like the virus made its way in through a picture file that was labeled with the extension .jpg.exe The Initia1Log.txt is computer specific meaning one will not be the same as another. The Ok.txt.block is NOT enough to decrypt we need Initia1Log.txt Excellent documentation along with the Russian individual who created the decryption algorithm for Initia1Log.txt can be found below but needs to be transcoded to English. Decode with http://www.bing.com/translator - http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=251126
