World at War Online Profile

[Raisin]

Fresh install from OG disk. Patched. Placed my saved profile into Profiles folder. Played on Sunday night with no issues.

Now go to play today and when I launch the game it wants me to create a new profile in order to play.

3 thing in my profile Folder:

Looks like the $$$ Folder is what the game thinks is my profile for whatever reason. I've tried changing that folder name to my my profile and dropping the contents of my actual profile into it with no luck. I also changed the Active txt file to Raisin as well.

Relaunched game. Shows my name in upper right background after it launches while at the same time asking me to create a profile. It's an endless loop. Cannot figure out how to get it to work again.

 

This make no sense. I literally played multiple maps after relaunching the games multiple times on Sunday. Any help appreciated.

Ok guys. So I figured it out just not sure why it happened.

Turns out my registry did not have the CDkey string.

I had to create it and add my key. Delete the $$$ folder and update the active folder to profile name. Relaunched game and it worked.

Oy, this happened to me a few months back and what triggered it was me opening steam and doing things there. It ended up cooking my normal game that I play from an OG game copy, nixing my cdkey, like what happened to you. I don't know what Steam does when you open it, but it changed stuff in my normal game folders. I had to google it and get into the registry to update the key code like you did. I saw someone talking about locking folders so they couldn't be overwritten by other programs, but perhaps that'd screw up playing the game normally, because it'd need to be written to then as well. I don't know, I'm just not wanting to open Steam now to do anything because it screwed my game up so much. When I fixed it, modded stuff came all back, but the normal stuff didn't return. I could upload a backup I have somewhere of my stuff, but I just don't play much on non-modded servers. Glad you figured it out Raisin!

No matter what I did I could never get my disk copy to work after updating to windows 7 way back then. So I ended up having to buy the steam copy.. I have tried several times since and never ended up working.. still have it but I gave up hope for cd copies lol
