OK, so every time that I run DOC4, I get a pop up window that says "Your computer appears to have changed since you last ran Call of Duty.  Would you like to optimize your game settings for your computer - Yes or No"

I hate this and sometimes I hit Yes by accident and it resets all of my video settings including resolution, brightness, model details, etc. etc.  It is a real pain in the ass.  Does anyone know how I can get it to stop doing that ??? Is there something I can do in the config file so that it won't ask me that question anymore ?

maybe u can try to make your file 'read only'

right click on your config file -> properties -> read only

see if it helps.

u usually get that when the game crashed or something.

and yea like stated more or less above, make sure u run the game and windows at native resolution of the screen.

u sure it ALWAYS happens ?

I get that too, probably because I run windows and COD at different resolutions (my GPU can't handle 1920x1200 very well on my laptop).  Like Danko I've just gotten in the habit of saying no to anything it asks before the game.  If there is a way around that though I would love it.

This happens to me almost every time as well.  I'm running Win7 32-bit and my desktop resolution and in-game resolution match.  I just figured it was a win7 issue.

I had it all the time too, until about two weeks ago. I downloaded the newest Nvidia drivers and they had an option to delete old drivers and custom configs. After that I never seen it again. Besides that I didnt change anything, except now I can run the game at higher settings and it runs much smoother.

Thanks Nutty, think I will delete all old drivers and re-install.  I didn't have this problem until I upgraded to Win7, so I thought it was an OS issue.  We'll see if it goes away tonight.

Thanks Nutty and Pharticus, I will give that a shot.  I haven't updated my Video drivers in a while, maybe that is it.  I run my windows and COD at the same resolution.
