SARGE, I have to say I believe it would have to be something still not right in the wiring or very well could be comp. Do you have access to a scan tool??

Erase the codes, and plug the map in,start it up- Does the check engine light come on??? What codes?? Have you done a KOER test? When you disconnect the map you are putting it in limp in, so it goes to a set parameter that is why it runs better.Your gonna need a scan tool to see if the computer is actually reading real sensor inputs/outputs. But if it sets codes it is probably working and you can use the codes to see what circuits they have in common to track it down. PM me if you got more info or need help.

PS  knowing if your getting codes  or not-and what they are if you do would help a bunch.
