Hard drive took a dump and it had to be replaced.  Lost all my profiles and ranks.  Anyway to get my ranks back besides playing for the next 4 months straight?

Sorry to hear of your loss dude. I suggest getting a sync program to sync your profile and map folder to a usb key plugged into the back of your computer. Cheap enuff insurance to prevent a future loss of data. allwaysync and tarylynn are two freebies.

If your dedicated enough, you can hook the old drive up to your system and use something like diskdigger to recover info. Take ALOT OF TIME, perhaps weeks to do a thorough recovery an is BY NO MEANS exact.

Another option if the circuit is bad as opposed to the hardware portion, you can swap the circuit board with an EXACT MAKE AND FIRMWARE version board and keep on trucking like nothing ever happened.

Does the hard drive still run at all?, maybe you can put it in your system as a secondary drive and get the profile back that way?

That's the way to go. I use a flash drive to both save my "Profile" and to transfer the data to whichever PC I am going to play on. Keeps my character always up to date on any of 3 PC's. And if I have a crash I will still have very current data to input on reinstall.

If the hard drive is dead, try putting it in the freezer for 10 min.,might give you enough time to copy your profile off of it.

When you do get your profile going again, either new or the lost one, try the XI Downloader program the XI team developed as it has a profile backup utility or if you prefer something else, there are programs like Allway Sync.  Depending on your needs, consider adding a second hard drive to back your stuff up on to.

Good luck.
