Hello everyone.

My old Dell Dimension 4500PC that was 9 &1/2 years old finally crapped out around 3 weeks ago so I just got a new Dell Studio XPS 9100 with a i7-930 processor & 8GB DDR3 SDRAM. My Video Card is a ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024MB GDDR5. I am running Windows 7.

It runs COD2 great in single player mode!

My problem is that my Comcast Cable Connection is not recognized while running the game. My line goes through a Surfboard Cable Modem without a router.  I get 0 servers running while trying to get on the Multiplayer game.  Should I try launching the game through XFire?

Comcast is Clueless on my problem and I would really like to get back Killing you all here soon!

Any Suggestions?

Dunno, I have had trouble before w/my comcast connection. My wife & I go through a router and that seems to give less trouble than a direct connection with the comcast cable box. Might have something to do with the MAC or dynamic IP addressing. I HATE calling comcast, they tend to be very clueless.

Yes there is a Firewall running. I'm new to Windows 7 & having a hard time trying to have the firewall allow anything through. I don't see COD2 even listed as acknowledged on the blocked list, i have looked. It used to be much easier on my old Windows XP.

I think this is the problem though.

Thank You Nobodygood.

Go to firewall settings and pick "allow program through" a list of programs and check boxes should come up.

Put a check mark next to PNK8strA, PNK8strB, and COD2

If these do not show up you nan add them at the bottom of the slection box

it depends on where it is installed, find the folder that cod2 is and browse to that location and pick the .exe file and you will be good, don't bother to re-install

I have tried all ways everyone has suggested to no avail. I even turned off my firewall & still nothing. One last curious thing is, when I try to run the autorun function when I click on my DVD drive, The Program won't start & I get a small window that says COD2  "Library Not Registered". So the game does not launch when I close the drive automatically. The game runs when I click on the desktop Icon only.

hmm well I can tell you it has nothing to do with your comcast cable or your modem or running through a router (even knowing you don't use a router anyway) As much as I hate Comcast fuck tard cable company its not them! (speaking as a comcast customer).

And I never have had that issue with the game, only one that was remotely close and that was where my computer didn't reckonize my dvd player and I used a windows hot fix I think it was to fix that problem.

Did you chose to install  the game in a different directory other than the C drive?

I mean a spot other than where it automatically choses to put the game into?

Thanks Dawgy....

I uninstalled the old patch & game completely... Then reinstalled the game & your patch from the link you provided and it still won't interact with the Internet.

The game will actually stop if you leave the Launcher screen on.

Maybe my copy of the game itself is flawed?

I'm gonna keep trying otherwise try my luck with COD4.

I installed it from the setup icon on the disc file.

Windows 7 does not like to run the autorun exe.

That's when it says "Library not registered".

I am presently running the game as Administrator.

I also have found out that my Modem through Comcast, has big Trouble with Windows 7 & there is no workaround or hotfix yet. The drivers last update was 2009 for the Motorola "Surfboard" Modem. Comcast claims it is their latest & greatest.

Half of my Comcast desktop Icons won't work. They have no answers either.

I don't know who I'm Pissed at more!

COMCAST OR WINDOWS 7!

I just ordered an upgrade for my 64 Bit Windows 7 to The "Professional" Version. The guy from India at Dell says through the upgrade I can run my PC back in Windows XP Mode. Then maybe my Stinkin' Modem will in stall & operate right!

Beware all windows 7 Users if you are thinking about Commiecast for your Internet Provider!

What you just mentioned is not a modem or router issue. Are you using the usb to connect your modem to your computer ? If so don't :) You might want to uninstall your ethernet driver and let windows install a new copy of it. So something like this unplug the modem uninstall your ethernet driver reboot the system and plug in the modem. Windows should see the missing driver and install it for you if it doesn't do it all again but this time get a copy of your MB manufacure's ethernet driver and use that one. Thats off the top of my head maybe one of the network gurus can advise better on the prosidure. But from what your talking about I think its that. Good luck remember computer also make stunning door stops.
