Here is a reminder that we will be playing primarily as Vanu Sovereignty on the server Mattherson (US East). Remember to add me (Cygon) once you are logged in.

I would suggest that each person pick one class to specialize in primarily, plus one or two more to be proficient in. I would also recommend that each player pick a couple of vehicles to specialize in.

 

You have to spend certs to upgrade and they don't come quickly...so if you try to spread them out all over you will never get ahead. Meanwhile, if you just pick one area to pour everything in you may not be very helpful in certain situations.

 

I for one am pouring my certs into Light Assault primarily, with Heavy Assault and Engineer as back ups. For vehicles I am going very heavy with the Sunderer (for mobile spawning) and some towards a lightning tank with skyguard (for AA).

 

It would be nice if we had some people who were proficient at flying aircraft (particularly the galaxy for dropping in infantry).

As for the best class for your average player...Heavy assault.

FYI I have decided to start up an outfit for us idiots...simply dubbed Idiots. I decided not to make the outfit XI because the outfit will not be exclusive for members of XI. However, it will be primarily composed of XI and friends. If you would like an invite you can post your in game name here or add me to your friends in game and I will invite you asap.

 

Here is a squad tutorial that may help with this and teamwork. We will be operating in squads (and platoons when we have more people) so try to get your mics up and running if you have them. We will be in TS3 mostly, but it is good to chat in game with the other squad mates:

A couple of things to consider:

1. You must use certs on AMS (anvanced mobile spawn) for a sunderer (sundy) and equip it before you can spawn on the sundy. If you are with a squad that has a sundy deployed it will often be the most important part of the operation when capturing a facility...so make sure it is defended at all costs. Always have an engineer nearby to repair damage (particularly from aircraft).

2. It is nice to have a medic with each squad to revive dead friendlies, but if you are the medic try not to die or it is useless.

3. If you are infiltrator remember that you can hack enemy terminals to allow your team mates to resupply or even spawn vehicles in enemy bases.

FYI sony is dishing out double XP this weekend for planetside 2. So, if you need to rack up some cert points to unlock some nice weapons for your Liberator or Magrider or Sunderer, this is the time to do it.

 

I will likely be on for a few hours Saturday night and intermittently on Sunday, so hop in the TS3 channel and join us.

 

On a side note if you are having lag issues on Windows 7, Steel has a cpu optimizer for the game that could increase your fps in tight battles by up to 20 frames. I will also note that I haven't experienced as much server side lag in the last week or so due to optimizations.

For anyone who wanted to buy some station cash for in game currency, this Friday Dec. 21 is the day to do it.

 

SOE is doing one of their triple station cash deals so you can get 3 times the in game currency that you would normally get.

 

With this you can get that stylish zebra camo or even a set of those tight rims for your sundy at a nice price . Or if you prefer something functional you could purchase a better weapon and forgo the hours of playtime needed to unlock it with certifications.
