I thought I was having RAM issues recently. I haven't been on my gamer much lately, but anytime I have come back to it after a day or 2 of idle time, it will have either Blue Screened or the monitor will have woken up, but everything is froze. No Keyboard or mouse. Reset or cold boot is the only resolve. I have searched all afternoon,(it's raining..no yard work) trying to find a lead. So far while I was reading, I ran Memtest for 2 full passes, and it says its ok. In my research I found some "old" threads blaming power management. I have ran the same scheme since I built this rig a year ago. But anyway, I went ahead and made changes. I have always just had the monitor turn off after 20 or 30 minutes, don't use hibernate or sleep, but today I did find this hybrid sleep, so I disabled it too. I also disabled turning USB devices off, and went through device manage and made sure mouse was set to wake computer as well as turning keybord on to wake computer, and made sure both were not to be put to sleep. As of now, the olny thing going to sleep is the monitor. I am going to play a little while and then let it set to see how it responds. I still plan on doing a scandisk, and have already done malware scan. Have even debated a full format and reinstall, but gotta get a new external first, the old one is getting jittery and dont want to trust it with important stuff.

If there is some more ideas, love to hear em. Waiting on the official release of the Nvidia driver for the newest one, I am running release 314.07, figuered Id just skip 314.22 since the beta for the next one is already 2 weeks old, it should be ready shortly.

Thanks in advance for some input.

Asus P8Z68-v lx don't know which bios version, the one it shipped with. I do not do bios updates, I'm too chicken to tempt it.

It's a year old build this month I think. Problem just started in the last 2 months, partly why I'm planning on the next nvidia update too.

Thanks for the hibernation command

you need to down load

software and use the update section to update bios

also need a USB stik that's

and your correct bios file for your MB

I see lots of stability issues , so if you want to keep your head in sand that's your biz  to suffer with out dated  bios

read the MB manual section 2

Already done AI suite, been using it since day one, still don't trust bios updates.

But so far it has remained on and stable through the whole night

If it craps again, I'll try reinstalling it, as I do use it to control the PCU fans. I also use MSI Afterburner for the video fans.

the mb i am using right now has been crapping out for about a year now. the last major prob was. it wouldnt sleep, when it did it didnt stay long. it would hard freeze several times upon start, and then start fine would get the blue screns.  I had to lower the mem freq. in the bios had to turn it down from 1600 to 1333 even though it is 1600 memory. the mb is now showing i have a triple core instead of a quad But i havent had a single issue since i adjusted the memory. 4-5 months ago.

nothing will bring it back to spec, other than replacing caps, there are a few bulging leaky ones lol. it got hit a few too many times by power spikes and losses from our wonderful power company.  I do plan on getting a REALLY REALLY good surge protector once i get my crosshair v formula z
