the weird lag

looks like u have trouble with ur pc and with internet.

the upper part of the lagometer stands for ur pc, blue means that ur pc has enought power and no frames getting lost, and yellow means that ur pc dosnt show all frames cause ur pc has not enough power.

the under part stands for ur connection to the server, green means everything is fine, yellow means that u lost a few parts of some packets and red means u lose packets.

 

the lagometer in ur vid shows two problems, if u have a lag u lose ur pictures and after it u lose the connection for a milisecond.

so if u lose pc-power u lose some connectionpackets that can be the result of a trojanerdownloader. run ur virusscanner and use hijackthis if it does not found anything u may should buy a better pc ;D

Certain maps can be more laggy than others, I seem to remember one on the Ace mod that virtually nobody could play because it lagged for everyone,

Chkn i always lag on this particular map. I know that i have high ping and that it should be souly to blame but i dont lag one bit (visualy) on any other map that we play. I never have anyone saying jeez nitro u skipping all over the place or u lagging so bad i cant hit you, since ive joined the >XI< website and servers yet as soon as this new map is put into the rotation bang i lag on it all the time yet all other maps are fine, coincedence? . Any way you and i arent the only ones ive heard other players complain of the lag too.

yea its only on this map, i got no lag on any other maps that are in the rotation now.

i really doubt its my computer or my connection, my connection is perfect like it never was, i just got moved to fiber optic kind of connection, well its fiber optics to the streetbox and then its copper to my house, but yea connection is stable like a roman wall.

whats also strange is if you stand stil and point your guy east, west, north, south, you can watch your ping spike and come down... WTH!

I experience this exact type of lag spikes all the time, it starts giving me lag spikes every two seconds or so for about 20-30 seconds and then it runs perfect and smooth for about 3 minutes then starts all over again.  It happens to me on every map at the begining and then every 3min or so after that, I traced the problem to Punkbuster B and disabled it, I then loaded into a map and it was perfect and smooth for the first time since punkbusterB came out, then punkbuster kicked me for not running PunkbusterB.

 

Next time it happens, alt-tab out of game and look at your processes in task manager, I'm just curious if this happens to anyone else, I am in the process of getting rid of punkbuster B completely, makes the game completely un-playable while this is happening and I have to find a quiet spot to wait and sit it out.

this is very interresting, i think u are right, it may be due to pb.

but then for my part its only this map in the actual rotation. but i experienced it with other maps we had in the past.

so my next question is why would only certain maps cause problems with pbB ?

i played on some cod5 bolts only in the past and the admins just disabled pb completely after they realised it was the cause of hit registration problems and lag spikes.

 

but then also why some people dont have those lags in that map, oh well, we should call the fbi or the experts or something

 

i also have other question, what is the difference between server 1 and 2 in terms of pings, because they have almost the same ip, so i guessed they may be on the same box, but then why is there a 10-30 ping difference there?

this looks like what I was getting but because of windows 7... by chance do you have windows 7? If so read my post from Monday for the fix. But just one map doing this may be a different issue. Worth a try though.

yea im using win7 to play, but i had the same problems with xp and vista with same map.

If anyone has windows 7 you may have noticed ur ping in game spike up causing massive amounts of lag. Well last night I was working with X-Ray and he helped me fix this issue and asked I post about it.

 

We first found it could be QOS packet scheduler.  I removed QOS  from network settings and also did the local group policy to set the default from 20% default to 0 and it did seem to help a little but the lag  was still there. Then he X-Ray found this link…..

Which says to do this….

 

* Stop and disable the "Multimedia Class Scheduler" service
* Run regedit and go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servi ces\Audiosrv"
* Double click on the entry "DependOnService" and delete the line with "MMCSS" from the text box
* Reboot and enjoy lag free games

 

This so far has done the trick. I played a couple games and the lag was gone and my ping stayed at 54 to 59 but no more 120-160 spicks like before.

 

Hope this help anyone having the same issue or if you went back to XP or dreadful Vista (hahaha jk xray) because of it.

that lag more than likely is a graphical one yes you may only get it on that map in the rotation but that map is also the most graphically intensive one in the rotation. what i am seeing is ur fps shoot down to lower than my laptops fps then go to normal but ur still lagging which then means the pc is trying to catch up to it creating a surge in ping.
