On startup this morning I had to go through the window repair thing after a bsod and I would like to know what the problem was. Awards

I thought there was an actual text log and it seems a dump would be written... if it was enabled. Which is wasnt. Of the two warnings today one says something about loading all dlls for every application around the time of the startup attempts. Maybe its related to the repair? But it seems to be happening now and then anyways and it didnt cause crashes. Dunno. But nothing that suggests anything what the bsod was for. The repair screen did twice say it was fixing some disk problems after which it restarted. The other is a DNS timeout for a place called slide.com that no longer exists. Wiki says Google bought it several years ago but it is now shutdown. I assume the web browser is trying to find it but the dns servers dont know what it is. Also fitocares.org whatever that is. Maybe they are ads for places that no longer exist. If so, no idea what would still be trying to access them. Awards

Couple of handy Tips. 1. I had a hellva fight trying to remove a Realtech Lan driver about 8 months ago.I was getting BSOD every 5 minutes because of a driver update.I got Lucky and had a restore point saved. When dealing with Realtech Lan drivers just use the one that Windows installs. It works don't update it EVER.It Overwrites the previous version and you can not roll the damn thing back without doing a system restore or complete reinstall. 2. When installing Win 7 it is very particular on what gets installed in what order.I've installed win 7 on a couple hundred PCs and most of the time you'll run into problems if you don't install .NET Framework 1st.As it includes all updates needed for the Windows Installer. If you install drivers 1st you will more than likely get random BSOD because of Drivers.Especially when it comes to Lan,Chipset and SATA controller drivers. Sounds like you may have a few Bugs that were not completely removed. There are a few tools that look for rogue applications and such I'll link a few of the better ones. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/combofix/ http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/tdsskiller/ http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/junkware-removal-tool/ http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ I have a small 512mb thumb drive with nothing but removal tools on it and these are the best that you will find.Disable your LAN before running them. They do a very good job at removing the little pieces that Malwarebytes and others leave behind. I can't tell ya how many Cheap Dell PCs I've had to clean out in the last couple of years. And I know for a fact that 70+/-% of them got buggs from downloading pics and attachments from Facebook and the other 30+/-% from downloading p0rn,random images,Music, wallpapers and screensavers. I hardly ever got bsod so this was unusual. I am also careful to never open email attachments and I refuse to ever go on facebook. Oh, and I will never buy a premade PC. Awards

Just to be sure. Also antimallware and S&d. Just the usual housecleaning stuff. edit: well it didnt find any nasties. I guess the message about there being a disk problem was it and it was fixed. But I suppose that means I should do a more thorough examination. Edited January 20, 2015 by Sammy Awards
