im working on mp_xi_de_dust been having lots of issues for first map but little by little i been knocking them down

 

  1. i added some spikes in a room  and added a light above it but the spikes still come out dark (do i have to add lighting grid or something in that room)
  2. i tried running the map from the usermaps folder and game just crashes cause loadscreen iwd  but i got the load screen to display so this one is driving me nuts

Hi m8 nice looking map, not sure about the load screen may be a file in the wrong folder ? but you could try upping the radius to 350 + in the spike room or adding  another light in there too, maybe with a wall light model ?

did you make an .iwd for your map and place it in the map folder? Did you also add your mapname_load.ff file to the map folder ?. For the lighting issue have you added your light grid to your map ? It would add some ambient light to your darked areas. You can also add more lights to that room.

I tried upping the light to 500 and nothing I think the light grid doesn't cover the room. I have the light grid in the center of sky box covers the whole Center but map lights up good. I'll try to lower the grid a bit to cover the room and report back.

 

As for iwd I did make it with images folder inside. And placed it in user maps folder and mod/custommaps folder

yes the light grid should cover the whole playable area, I'll be coming to you to show me how to make that style mini map when I'm ready lol :whistle: :whistle:

no luck i added a few more lights in there nd changed the texture it improved just a bit but still see the black and the light grid does cover that area

the batch file says i dont have a grid file   the file thats mapname.grid  when i try to create it or edit it game starts and says could not load loadscreen

Not sure if this helps or if there's a different  but which way did you make your cylinders ?

patch / primitives / cylinders  or  physics / primitives /  cylinders, maybe try using the other way you made them and see if that works ?

and the iwd you made

 

just place them in a folder and zip it up and add to this pm I'll look and see whats wrong for ya,
