right peps we have been running a spawn punishment for a week or two. ive had mixed reviews about the weapon drop when you spawn kill.

but can i say this has reduced the compliants we have to deal with. 

yes it can be a pain! ive dropped my weapon enough over the two weeks. but i get it and accept ive shot someone in spawn.

complaint i have now is: you pop up or run round a corner and shoot someone in spawn you then drop your weapon and they then kill you instead.

this is only a trial and we would like to hear everyones views or ideas

Not thrilled with it. Rather just go back to spawn protection for a few seconds. Vinimy (sic) is a map that you jump into a trench, shoot somebody, & loose your gun. They in turn, walk up & stab you. 😢

I personally hate this new addition. It can especially be a pain on DM3 where when there's like, 2-3 players, it's a tiny map, and then tons of people join, and then you just have this tomfoolery business where everyone's dropping their guns or  using the spawn protect to their advantage, effectively abusing it.

On top of that, half the time it doesn't work as intended. Players can shoot the gun out of your hand while you're spawn protected, and additionally;  sometimes the "drop your weapon" mechanic doesn't even work, they just sustain fire on you until it wears off. Overall not a very good feature. I understand why it exists, but overall I don't believe this is the correct approach, ultimately it's not working as intended half the time, I believe the best option would be to remove it rather than rework it. Overall, not a good fit.

On the topic of spawn camping, I really don't think it's that bad of a problem, at least in DM3. Yeah, it sucks, but usually you can get back up on your feet and reclaim your score from the kill pretty easily if you know what you're doing. Spawn protection just doesn't fit in an arcade-style approach to a free for all.

Dropping my weapon isn't so bad, if it wasn't for the fact I can't just pick it back up, I have to wait for the timer until i can pick it back up, instead of just picking it up and attempting to flee the engagement so I can attack from a different position.

So yeah, no, not a good idea one bit, and the implementation of it has been a failure, not a success.

I think for a run and gun server it's not practical , People run buy you and shot and lose you weapon , Had one person shooting me just as I spawned , I shot back and lost my weapon with a warning , I think they kinda got that reversed lol..

The attempt here was to avoid attacking a spawning player, allow them to at least move from spawn, albeit some spawn shooting can be accidental, so after some conversation and the feedback here, the 'drop your weapon' punishment has been removed and spawn protection remains on for 4 sec.  We have though added the player icon when spawning so you'll see they are protected and to leave them to get out of spawn. But if they choose to sit, then they're fair game.

Just thought I add this to the new white cross above the head , It's like putting target on you , If was me I would prefer not to have it on me  personally.. But this doesn't really affect the game play though.. Yes I have got shot from trying to avoid them ..But that's ok .. 

Lets say it's much better then the rifle drop ..lol..

i agree Larsin, was in before and its a big head target. just other another attempt to reduce spawn killing, we dont know these things if we dont try.
