Widows 11 problems with downloading maps on cod 5 freeze tag

I recently had to buy a new pc with windows 11. My old pc had windows 10. I am running into problems with downloading maps on waw cod5 freeze tag as it will start to download but then stop before finishing download and freezes the screen. The only way to get out of it is to actually shut down pc by turning it off at the power button. Nothing else works. Is there  a program that needs to be run or just some kind of procedure I can use to fix this problem?  I cant do it myself but my kids said they can if they knew what needs to be done. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Not sure on how to fix map issues but you can turn on a setting that allows you to right click on the game in taskbar and quit out completely without needing to shut off the PC. Go to settings of pc and search “end task” and that will pop up a option that can be enabled.

couple of option here to close the crashed app,  

1) use ALT-TAB to go the failed error, cycle holding the TAB key while tapping ALT ket to get to error, when is highted release the TAB and with Mouse  click the X  to close it 

2)  ALT-CTRL-DEL to go to Task manager   

 

just select CoD then right cick app then select end task 

Key you need to run  compatibility mode by go in settings  system 

open that and direct to C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Call of Duty - World at War/ CoDWaWmp.exe  run it from there .

 

issue is the game was made in 32Bit  and FAT32,  your new OS  is 64 bit also  NTFS format.

me i  used old drive in new system to get game to play or you can use third party

i try also for win 11 is a PITB  down loaded from XI  note need a zip file app to get the files, so when play game it will D/L faster and next time play map you got it. seems in win 11 the map directory is hidden for it not pick them up

Key you can have the kids  use a flashdrive formatted in FAT32 and copy the win 10  game files to it and use it new system  so not to kill the win 10 system

Ha , 5kids were going to do that the other day but I did not have a big enough flash drive so they said they would bring a big enough one over next time they come. They found the map packs on windows 11 pc and downloaded them to the game for now, it was ten separate packs but still get a lot of freeze ups when start  of new game. And still have to manually shut down pc as even the curser is un controllable when screen freezes. Hoping if they down load them on flash drive from windows 10 pc and transfer them to windows 11 pc everything will be fine

note in those map packs  were a few of them (4-7)  were  corrupt just skip those bad maps when unpacking them, sounds you soon be on win 11 gaming,

after done just keep WaW on the flash drive and your prophile for safe keeping in the future

Note the freeze up's  is from the Rez setting , can try running game in 1024 x 768  screen resolution for that was the standard then

Im seeking to buy a new PC with W11 next fall im i gonna get these kind of problems too??

I still have original DVD for this game is it easier??

Note  new Systems are not coming with CD, DVD, BD drive  i use one with M-disc techno  and buy another SATA drive to clone  win 10 drive  in FAT32  or use old drive it self.

once  it is on the sysyem it will assign a drive letter to it   then need to edit the CoDWaWmp icon on desktop  to change  the drive letter what windows assign 

once that done  next is compatibilty mode ,  Note if haven't set game on win 11 

i tried to  find the no cd crack  so not need the disc to play MP( for CD drive not in system)  all i got some teenager strip site when try to D/L it

this why its done this way to pass the cd check.
