Burning Man Tickets To Go On Sale For $380
little_old_man replied to 1lost1's topic in User Announcements
I went once years ago and swore I'd never go back. Now I just go to the desert to enjoy it instead of destroying it. -
I'm not sure what it's called, but I often thought that those little scanners they make for business cards would be perfect for doing receipts. The trick is finding something that can automatically load and quickly scan piles of odd shaped paper, like business cards and receipts. I often thought that somebody could make a fortune if the invented a scanner feeder that could take a stack of old photographs and automatically load them into a scanner one at a time. They probably have one already but I've never seen it.

The quickbooks import has less to do with the hardware and more to do with where you are saving the scanned images to. As long as you are saving them to a file that quickbooks can import from it shouldn't be an issue. I used to scan receipts from my HP printer and import them to QB.

And here is what happens when you're on a trans-Atlantic flight, get too drunk, start yelling the plane is going to crash, and choking the woman seated next to you. The passengers take charge and tape you to your seat for the remainder of the flight instead of making the captain turn the plane around.

I resemble that remark.

Meth's Devastating Effects: Before And After..
little_old_man replied to PimpedOutPete's topic in General Discussion
Any addiction to a substance can destroy lives. Alcohol addiction probably destroys more lives than all of the drugs combined, although the changes in appearance aren't as dramatic as meth addicts. My wife was an alcoholic for the first 5 years of our marriage. It almost destroyed our marriage and tore our family apart. I finally had enough and told her she had to chose between drinking and never seeing me or her children again. She chose her family, quit cold turkey by herself and hasn't had a drink in over 17 years. She's the strongest woman I've ever known and I can't imagine life without her, or what she would be doing today had she not given up drinking. -
I saw something on the news this morning about 3 people shot and killed in Switzerland and it made me do a little looking into their gun laws. I was very surprised to see that Switzerland has practically the highest per capita gun ownership in the world, and about the lowest rate of gun violence in the westernized world. I am not intending on this turning into a heated political discussion, just food for thought. The article is from 1990, and is just as true today as it was then. What works there wouldn't work here because of cultural differences, but certain aspects of their laws could be implemented here and work very well. The swiss have a very small government and no real army because their citizens are the armed forces. Every male must serve, and must keep their weapons at home with ammo, that includes fully automatic assault weapons. Even after they retire the government weapons are kept in the home. They avoided two world wars because enemies knew it would be a disaster to try and invade a country with a weapon in the hands of every citizen, and with the exception of a handful of homicides by mentally unstable people, gun violence is non-existent. It's a little long but well worth reading. http://www.guncite.com/swissgun-kopel.html

Are you sure those are meth heads? They look more like people who spent a winter in Calgary. -
Looks like a Muskee LOC.

God Created Children (And In The Process, Grandchildren!)
little_old_man replied to JohnnyDos's topic in Jokes and Misc stuff
The comedian Gallagher once said something at a live performance that pretty much summed it up for me. "The good lord made kids so cute so you don't fucking kill them." -
So bitter.... So Gullible.

I wouldn't worry about it. If you have 7.4 "GIGS" that's more than a lot of people playing have on their entire hardrive for older PC's. Delete some of the gay midget porn from your collection and you will have tons of room.

Welcome to the insanity.

In your office does your chair sit on one of those large plastic floor or carpet protectors? I find that in the winter months, rolling your chair around on one of those suckers can generate one hell of a static charge, enough to mess up a computer. Some of them come with a ground wire attached that you can attach to the screw of a power outlet. If that's what you have I would suggest taking out the floor protector until the weather warms up.

LOL , shit Bart you beat me to it. My thoughts exactly. BTW, the French pronounciation is boolshit.

Long before I started playing COD2 online my son was into it. One night somebody posted a link in team chat and my idiot son clicked it. The link recorded his GUID, and within an hour it had a PB ban on it. Needless to say I bought another copy and NEVER let my son use it. Kids can be morons sometimes.

??? Offended, moi??? I merely pointed out a petite error in your aging memory mon ami! Respectfully, with no insult explicit or implicit to your great country, and friend of my country, vous êtes un idiot! Now Astronomer, if we're going to start dealing cards on who is forgetting exactly what, you migh want to also publish your follow-up to what I said in the PM to you when I said I wouldn't bother responding to any more of your PM's. "Funny; I came to the same conclusions about you. You, unfortunately, are a cliché." And to the rest of my Canadian friends, you have some of the biggest funny bones in the world. The difficult part for some is being able to take what they dish out. Having an ego as large as one's mouth is a obnoxious combination, regardless of nationality.

If you are easly offended by sarcasm, feel the uncontrollable need to always have the last word, and completely lack a sense of humor, you might be from Canada.

boo-effing-hoo. Get your ass back in the politics forum if you feel so strongly about whatever splinter is stuck in your ass. So much for your promise to ignore my posts, Eh?

Does A Fast Computer Really Affect Gameplay?
little_old_man replied to TheHammer's topic in General Discussion
It has more to do with skill and low ping. The only thing a good computer can do is make the gaming experiece better for you. Comfortable keyboard, mouse, big monitor and high-end graphics card all improve how you experiece the game, but can't improve your score. -
Damn, I guess it isn't too hard to figure out what that makes Mexico.

lol i did get that sarcasm... lol and of course my reply was sarcastic... except for the part not to make this post political, and ty for your honesty. I like what you bring here and I know you are a good man. I can tell by many of the posts you have authored. And I understand your position. I know there are some subjects that are touchy. I just want to have fun with a bunch of great poeple like yourself and others, even if we differ in certain opinion on certain issues. We can still have fun and enjoy each other's humour. canadian spelling lol Thanks for your honesty... you sarcastic bugger is it safe to come out now? You can come out after you watch this.

Sorry for your loss. Shepards are great dogs but they always seem to have some kind of health problem that takes them way too soon. Our 7 year old dropped dead of a heart attack and I swore that was my last one. The yellow lab we got from the pound shortly after that is now 16, but slowing down and I fear the end will be soon. It's so hard losing a family member.
