UPDATE: According to provider, the NY servers are experiencing attacks. I have shut down our ACE mod server until further notice. They are working through the problems and will notify me when they get things stable.

UPDATE: Just got a status from our server provider for ACE mod, and the NY servers are experiencing technical difficulties. I have no status on how long that it will last, but at least we know it is not on our end. Sorry for the trouble, and I hope this is resolved soon so we can get back to killin' Stay Tuned

It must be the provider, because I can't even log in to our Admin page with the server provider. We will get to the bottom of it.. sorry for the trouble.

My two 5870's in crossfire see no appreciable difference between 11.7 and 11.8. Oh well, as the old saying goes.. If it sounds too good to be true...... it probably is. Thanks anyway!!!!!

DO NOT PANIC. When you get that message, it is almost always right after you have been kicked out of the game for one reason or another. (such as, your computer locked up and you rebooted; you were frozen and didn't move for 5 min and were kicked, you were in spectate in a freeze tag server too long and were kicked; You had an internet interruption on your end; etc..) When you try to go back in it says 'Key code in use'. It just means that the game server still has you 'registered' as being in game.. even though you are not. It can take a bit of time before the game server drops that key code out of memory and you can then rejoin. I myself have had that situation last as long as 30 minutes, but it always clears up. It is a pretty common occurrence.

Well, your idea about the MoBo may be right. Hope the computer shop gets you up and running without too much trouble and cash.

Don't panic..lol Maybe you could list your computer specifications: Mobo, CPU, ram, hd, vid card, etc. This will help us to help you. When I have had similar probs, I disconnect everything that I can to get to a base setup and try to boot. If it boots, add components (turn off, add a component, restart) until I get hung up again.. and that is what is causing the trouble. Don't know if you can, but worth a try. Also, since the last thing you did was add paste, inspect your CPU well. You may have squished out a bit of paste on a side and got it on the cpu pins. If you did, it's conducting pin to pin and causing problems. Clean with qtips and alcohol and BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO BEND ANY PINS. Clean the mobo cpu holder too if it got on it. Make sure your pin alignment is good and reinstall. You can remove cpu with fan on it, just be careful.. or you can re-paste again.

DramaLlama i am now unsure about what temp is normal for my cpu. the specs say 72 is normal, but it doesnt say if that 72 is the total of both cores or for each core. I am reading other forums and seeing answers for both possibilities. but i am leaning toward 72 as the total now. I have never seen a manufacturer list a temperature as a 'total' of the temperatures of the cores... in other words... I do not believe your specs list a combined temp of cores.. it lists operating temp of any single core. The reason that I say this is it is not cumulative. IF 2 cores both were 32 degrees.. that would not make the overall temp of the cpu 64.. it would be 32. Overall temp is average of temps of all cores.

tsw 8.5 the cpu temps look high to me ..on my old duel core 72 c ..was the max for it.. you need to see what the temp range is for that ..but it looks very high to me .. +1 Definitely temps are too high. Powdery is not good.. should be a little thicker than peanut butter, even if a bit old. If you actually removed the fan from the cpu, which you would have to see the condition of the paste, you should ALWAYS reapply new paste when you put it back together. I would minimize the amount of time you run your system until you put on a good thermal paste. You should see pretty significant temp drops once you put on a good paste. Let us know how it goes.

Yes, I dl a day or two ago (sorry, shoulda posted about it.. thx Johnny) and it's good. There is a bunch of hype about how it's supposed to really put some extra graphics horsepower under the hood, but I haven't seen a significant change so far. I haven't run it through a benchmark since the new install though, so it may have improved.

greywolf2 Is your in game name the same you use while playing in game? If so i will look for you on Ace server logs and run your guid through my resourses. Grey, I think we are talking 'apples and oranges' here. He says he was banned in COD2... but he is playing in both COD2 (DM) and COD4 (ACE mod) XI servers. He has been in both this month, so he isn't globally banned in COD4 at least. Long story short, you need to pull his guid from COD2 DM to run it. It is under the same name according to game tracker.

CHKN i have no words to describe what i read here, i wont post anything else, or we gona have to start a fight, and we dont want that, do we but wow, some seems to follow breivik way here... Exactly why politics are not discussed at any satisfying level here, because there are many opinions too diverse to come to any reasonable agreement. It's like that in just about every facet of life.. politics, religion, etc. SO, we agree to disagree and play our little FPS games. Fact is, none of us have all the answers.. I see no Utopia on the hill. I have my hands full keeping myself and my house in order, I am in no position to tell you how to fix yours. Whatever the motivation, it is truly a shame what is happening in the UK. I hope it calms down and things get back to normal.
