As many of you know, back in February we had a house explosion about three houses down from us.
The explosion killed my fellow firefighter Trevor Brown and injured 10 more of my firefighters. Two had 3rd degree burns, One had a shattered hip, another shattered leg, another crushed shoulder. All received significant trauma with regard to shrapnel wounds, concusions and ongoing pulminary problems. Fortunately most of them are on the mend.
This year I became involved in a group called Patriot Cruise and Salute https://www.patriotcruise.org/ This is an annual event hosted right from our marina.
Saturday I was honored to host on our boat, the widow of Fallen Firefighter Trevor Brown and her three amazing kids, along with my company fire chief and his wife.
In all, the event hosted 105 honorees this year and 55 captains volunteered their time, their boat, their fuel and food to give the honorees a nice three hour ride up the Potomac River.
After the boat ride, we enjoyed a great catered meal, and all honorees and volunteers received a nice challenge coin.
I stuck a 360 camera on the back of "Cool Change" and created a little snippet of the first few minutes of the trip.
Another boater grabbed a couple of shots of us.
It was a great day and I can't wait for next year!
