  1. That's an interesting idea. So if nothing else perhaps build one, to start, as SP but in such a way that a MP one can be made up at a later date. To work all the electronics except the computer would have to be on the board itself so only the two cables need to be switched out. Thinking about how to built it into parts using bolts that could come from the inside for the sides. Except for the back access panel. The panels would need large enough plates or something that could be made flush on the outside that the bolts would attach to. The bolt wouldnt poke through. Might not be strong enough unless there were a lot of them. edit: like a cap nut but bigger and flat/flush on the outside. edit again: Ah ok I see. Stuff like that can easily be made up. So this idea might actually work.
  2. Yea swappable occurred to me. However it would have to be anchored down pretty good because of the abuse it would take so it wouldnt pop out. Also pretty inconvenient. Fighting games might actually be more enjoyable on a really big screen anyways. Like today it still comes down to what will be played the most. SP or MP.
  3. This is NOT what I had in mind for a control panel. As you can see, a do-it-all wont work. Oh and it would have to fit through a door and around a corner. So indoor assembly might be a requirement. Not sure a sectional idea (top and bottom parts) joined at the middle would work. If anyone did such a thing. Anyways, I might have too many requirements for this to work out.
  4. Everything is still in the planning stages. Not exactly decided on number of players. Having two is good to allow for co-op and fighting games. But control panels like that are not so good for the traditional SP games like Stargate. Which is a must. Also just wouldnt feel right playing SP games off-center with controls squished together. I dont particularly like those. Quite a few people have said it might be best to not to get both to co-exist. Leave fighting and co-op games to a cabinet designed for them. No need for trackballs and spinners. Leave those to a SP control panel that has room for them. So kinda leaning away from the usual 2-player cabinets people tend to make. Stick to a SP cabinet with multi-controls. I thought about going the TV route with an htpc and a big portable control panel as well. Of course people sell those. Could also just buy two fighting sticks. Takes care of all the interface problems. Players also wont be tripping all over each other and can sit in their own spaces. But its still a console experience. It might end up being my only option however instead of a big piece of furniture in a corner. I hear pi isnt up to the task for games past the mid 90's but it would make for an interesting project. I tried to get an android emulator to work but never could. Their rom sets are pretty old anyways. A cheap linux celeron minipc would likely do it all except console emulation. But not particularly interested in console games.
  5. From what I read poplar plywood is more lightweight than typical. But pricey in comparison. Another option I suppose is to use a little of both.
  6. Hehe Been one of those things in the back of my mind that I might want to build an arcade cabinet for the nephew+niece for when they visit. And yes... for us adults. Cant help it I love those old games. Personally more than the modern shooters. Playing with a PS4 controller works for all the stuff that doesn't need trackballs or spinners but its not as enjoyable. However the size of the things are a little imposing for a small room. Even the thinner cabinets. So still debating.
  7. Hi guys Any furniture makers here? I project I have in mind that has many unusual requirements that a typical cabinet doesnt need. So..... Think arcade cabinet but smaller. 3/4 inch panels. Tall but square on the bottom. It needs to be relatively lightweight. mdf is too heavy. But the foam core stuff doesnt seem to have the strength unless glued and/or must be permanently attached. I have hardwood floors and I dont want to damage or scratch them. A light plywood is fine since it will be painted. Since CA is earthquake country the bottom could be filled with some ballast... books etc... so its not top heavy and risk tipping over unless the big one hits. Kids will use it. The more difficult parts. It needs to have the ability to be disassembled and reassembled multiple times without compromising the structure. I prefer not to go from the outside so the surface is smooth. Or at least so anything can be hidden but removed later for disassembly. Having a bunch of rivet looking things is kinda ugly. I read the ikea thing, which I have a few of, is not as strong as some would like over time. Also a pain in the ass the actually get the little parts into the wood correctly to assemble later. My guess is going from the outside into some corner structural supports is best, so long as you cant see it but take them out later. Price is a consideration.
  8. Pretty nice. 32" is way too big for the desk space I have available but I can certainly use a 26 or something like that. My 22" is ok but could be bigger.
  9. This should get you started. Keep in mind that you should probably contact your ISP before doing this since they might frown upon using your webspace for a redirect. http://modsonline.com/Tutorials-read-516.html
  10. Yes. One year before the market collapsed and the start of the great depression.
  11. That particular map cannot be 'solved' so to speak because the mapper chose to distribute all the team start spawns that way.
  12. I suppose its good that Trump approves. Otherwise he would sue everyone into bankruptcy. Something his lawyers say.
  13. Your pride depends on who is president. Ooook.
  14. Sausage Party is an R-rated movie. Not a TV show. Now if you take your kids to an R... well... as a parent thats your right. Just dont complain about it when they hear R humor.
  15. He then said he was going to make milk great again.
  16. Yup sent in my absentee yesterday. So no 'I voted' sticker. Will have to make my own.
  17. Adam Sandler movies rock
  18. Condolences to you and the family.
  19. The map is fine. There was an incorrect map name in the rotation for the map after it. So it got stuck.
  20. Those 10 players should have been forced to respond. Or there needs to be a new rule. Not voting means you want to keep the status quo. Anyways, if anyone wants let me know which ones were good and which ones sucked.
  21. Well bah! I say, bah! There are a whole lot of good maps there. Yes quite a few of them are more difficult than the usual boring same ol same ol. In any case there must be *some* maps in it you liked.
  22. Hey back to Sammy rotations already. Time sure flies.
  23. Macs are too expensive and I am on a tight budget.
  24. adwcleaner only found two things, both for chrome. ask.com and one of the others. I never use it anyways unless there is something specific it does that the others cannot.
