Yes get a 256 SSD. Use it for programs that you know will only be installed once and wont be removed. OS obviously. Photoshop etc if you have that. Get a regular HDD as a secondary for programs that may come and go or you dont use very often. Personally, I use mine for games also since their space requirements are large especially with maps and such. Also anything requiring large files like video editing, ripping, music and all of that. Maybe I dont need to be so careful with an SSD but I figure the fewer writes to it the better.
edit: Oh and be sure you set up space on the HDD for the various big temporary files used by editors. Not the C drive. Also, download to it instead of to the SSD.
