If this is true it will be welcome. I might even buy the game after Christmas depending on how it works out. But they left themselves a big 'out'. More likely it will be like in BO where they promised the same kind of thing for months. Eventually they allowed limited modding, compared to cod4 and 5, but no custom maps. Much of that was due to their desire for anti-piracy and anti-cheat controls in addition to the 'gaming experience' thing. Everyone in the modding community saw no point in even bothering without both mapping tools and private servers. Last time I made the mistake of pre-ordering BO without actually seeing any kind of modding package. I wont do that again. Not that I would do it. Spent enough time modding as it is and prefer to move into UE4 or something else and make something I might be able to sell.

Dont know Green Day. Never listened to Adam Ant or the Black Eyed Peas. But I never had any interest to. But to the list I would add most disco music. "Kung Fu Fighting"? Disco "Star Wars"?. Seriously?

You would likely need to do that anyways for any games requiring win10. They are coming.

Did some checking around and its not so simple but possible. Might require a specific build of wine. You also have to point it to some directx dlls or some such. A quick google shows a lot of pages that have information on how to do it. Punkbuster might be an issue since the XI servers use it. Truthfully, you might be better off doing a dual boot and having one small Windows partition to use only for games. In the long run much less of a headache. By server, I mean if you want to run your own cod4 server for everyone to play on. You run the server. Install the maps. The mods. But, it is not a listen server like in MW2/3/others. So it is not a client for you to play. Just a command line window. Many game server providers use it tho windows is better to avoid certain Linux limitations regarding bigger or more complex maps. For this kind of thing you dont need wine.

Especially since a few of those are highly illegal.

You need 'Wine' to emulate Windows. Only way to get things like DirectX. The only cod4 you can run under Linux by itself is a server.

Hmmm. Seems Origin has the premium version for 30 bucks. Hard to pass that up but I dont trust them with my CC after all the data breaches they have had. Then again I also have my eye on a couple CDs I might want to get from Japan first.

Careful, they might enjoy that whip too much.

Yup ants... or drones... have no choice. They dont even know what a choice is. There is no such thing as 'yes' because that in itself suggests the very concept of 'no'. So I suppose you could go the George Orwell 1984 route and 'condition' people so that it is not even conceivable to rebel. So yea, glad we arent ants. Even tho some want us to be so long as they are on top and the rulers. Must be careful of such people because once they get there it will be very hard or too late to remove them and help replace them with people that like to think of everyone as a human being with a will of their own.

Typically the 999 at consistent events mean script errors or some kind of undefined variable causing a bad loop. Could even be a bad model if its custom. Which in turn causes the game to write huge amounts of data to the console log within a few seconds. Sometimes megabytes. If its map specific, maybe something in a path node that is missing? I dont know cod5 or dogs but I assume there are a lot of them so they can navigate the map like in UT. Next time it happens save the console log then zip it up to so people can check it out.

Of course also depends whether or not the slots will take 8gb each. My guess, few people truly need 16 except for various kinds of software developers or video editing and the like. There are a couple things where I could benefit from 16 but my mb will only accept 8. Yup its a few years old now.
