Use strong passwords and change them frequently. Don't use the same username and passwords for multiple accounts. Use the strongest authentication methods available, such as two-factor authentication, which often requires a code sent by text message or another means in addition to a password to access the account. So, which of these did this guy not follow?

xasset and xmodel in the command line is for cod4x only. As for the issue. Between the game files, mod files, and map files there are too many unique models being loaded. If you havent already, delete the mod and redownload it then go from there.

At this time, if you go the PC route, it would probably be advisable to get a prebuilt system to your desired specifications and parts. Also for availability. But not a Dell or some other that locks you into their ecosystem. Building your own is fun. But then again the older we get the less interesting it becomes and people just want something to do the job well.

Yes do not get the iso from untrusted sources. They often switch out some of the files for hacked ones. And do NOT install cod4x. Nor go to any server that uses it. At least not after a fresh install. You can find out by checking the server information before you join. They usually say 20.something and most servers use Linux builds. Later, after its all set up and running as a stock/vanilla server then maybe. This is not a knock against cod4x. Its creators do great work and on their own time and dime. Then, when installed, back up your entire cod4 folder before downloading and installing maps and mods. That way you will always have a fresh copy to work with.

The instructions on the bottom of that page are for cod2. Ignore those. Instead get the cod4 patches to bring it up to patch 1.7 and install those normally.

Protesters do need to be careful however. After they have had their say and got all their media exposure, but still wont go home, and continue to disrupt everyone else... in this case even if you live in another country... peoples patience starts to wear thin.

What server are you trying to join. None of the XI servers should even try and get you to update cod4x.

Thus far, I would have to say HBOMax is a good streaming service. Going through the first season of Westworld and its a pretty good show. So might end up cancelling Netflix streaming because I hardly use it anymore and stick to their BD service (for those things I cant get from the other streaming services I have). All the various Netflix-only streaming stuff is available there as BD anyway if/when I want to watch it. After seeing the first disc of Star Trek Discovery, and I cant say I have seen any truly bad Star Trek (other than the 5th movie), I do have to say I am unimpressed by the show. Seems to be trying to do a little too much too fast instead of letting things naturally develop. But I will give it a chance to see if it finds its footing. On the other hand, never saw the World At War documentaries and they are quite good.

20.5 is the cod4x patch. It should automatically download when you join one of the servers that uses it. If they configured it properly. Or you can head to the cod4x website to get it. Note that none of the servers here use cod4x anyway so there is no reason for you to install it to play here.

You're welcome. And yes, realtek sucks. Might we worth it to get a pci sound card. Doesnt have to be an expensive one. But one that has support for an amplified 3.5 front panel jack. Never had a problem with a crashing cod4 game using the front panel 3.5 jack non-usb set, and no mic, but I dont have realtek enabled. Just a simple asus card. My headset *with* the mic was both. 3.5 for audio and usb for the mic and in-line amp. But also no realtek.

Patch v20.5 is cod4x. So at some point you must have joined a server with it installed. Your record level also shouldnt have a number next to it. Another sign that you got a patch somewhere. First recommendation, rename your current player config_mp file and let it autogenerate a new one. If that doesnt work, uninstall cod4x.

Shouldnt matter. Not having mic plugged in can cause crashes depending on how your sound mixer is set up. But I cannot say whether or not that is limited to USB-only headsets.
