  1. Well played.
  2. Tell us what you really think.
  3. You still have to dry your bum off tho. Wonder if I should invest in Toto. Maybe toilet/bidet combos will start taking off.
  4. Next, people will go to Staples and buy all the computer paper reams to use to wipe their asses with.
  5. Now thats funny. Where is the police escort?
  6. When a six pack of TP was only $1.50. How times have changed.
  7. Wow. I have never heard it this quiet outside on a weekday except for christmas day or thanksgiving day.
  8. Got mine at Amazon many years ago. Actually two. First one for the Mac and the next one later on for PC. Buying via Steam... or one of its competitors... has its benefits and drawbacks. Strictly speaking, nobody has ever owned a game. Just a license. Even all those free Linux games are under license. You can do whatever you want, with limitations and/or requirements, but dont own them. At best, you own a piece of plastic. Of course with Steam you dont even own the plastic. ? So if you did lose that piece of plastic, but kept the license, you could borrow another piece of plastic from a friend and reinstall the game. The one thing I dont like is that too often you cant transfer the license from the CD to digital. That's a money grab.
  9. I suppose its just premature to take overly drastic measures on this scale. Certainly nationally. Are we going to do this every time some new flu makes the rounds? Maybe every year January to March should be considered shutdown season?
  10. This is just total panic by our so-called leaders. Its almost like they are all one-upping each other in how much they do panic on an hourly basis. The winner is the one that panics the most. https://techcrunch.com/2020/03/16/bay-area-counties-announce-lockdown-through-april-7/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Techcrunch+(TechCrunch)
  11. Anybody hoarding in minecraft yet?
  12. Your list did not include the 40k that die per year from gun violence in the US. Men, women and children. 110 per day. You can have serious health problems or never caught a cold in your life. Since two weeks ago that is 1,500 people. Get rid of guns to save all these people? Require guns to be quarantined and never be taken outside of your home? Nope. Seems while we should be able to force families to remain in their homes at all times when just one of them is sick we cant do that with guns for *ANY* reason whatsoever. That 40k are simply the price we pay. Well, whatever. Its an old and tiresome argument nobody will ever win and most people are tired of debating anyway. Back to my videogames for me. But this time? The price of 100 dead is much too high, we must declare state and national emergencies, and shut down the entire country. Oh and we must panic and hide in fear every time some gang banger gets shot up in Detroit. Better go stock up on bandaids in case we get shot too. Oh and bottled water in case our tap water gets contaminated or shut off. In which case we will all stink of BO in a matter of days and some might die from the smell. ?
  13. The various financial bodies of the world are trying to somehow stem the tide of economic collapse. However every time they do something the reaction is that they must know something the rest of us dont and that we are closer to the end. Like there is some sort of Illuminati conspiracy. I hate to say it, but perhaps we would have been better off if they did exactly nothing at all and said 'Remain calm, all is well." Of course there are the eventual conspiracy theories. The latest is that this was all intentional by certain people in the US sending the virus to China. Since a lot of us are dumb as bricks a percentage will buy it. Long term might be interesting to see attitudes about people that get sick. If you are, should you be forced to stay home from work for a short while at least until the worst has past? Since we need to pay the bills we load up on flu medicine so we dont feel like shit and go. However if we as a people want to change it to where staying home is a requirement, by the employer or the state, then we must deal with their financial issues. Once upon a time it was called paid sick leave. These days, you are lucky to get it at all. Of course the rebuttal to that is always that its too expensive and people will be laid off. Well, choose one. If you think its too expensive, then accept that either you may get sick from those that came to work or if you are the one that is sick you might infect others. On the other hand, if you chose to require sick people to stay home then you must help them until they are no longer infected themselves.
  14. Right now, you are more likely to see an alien than toilet paper.
  15. Lets have a reality check. 650k people die... in the US alone... from heart disease every single year. Slightly less for cancer. So people die, in massive quantities. Unless it is someone you know, or it is some kind of tragedy, It is a fact we are all used to and accept as natural without blinking an eye. Death has little meaning. Yet this time, with somewhere around 100 dead in the US, we are all fucked. Many books are going to be written about the mass panic of 2020 and why it happened compared to SARS, the avian flu, and others. Here is how stupid it is. Usually, if there is something wrong with you and someone steps in to help then you think 'thank you' and you're going to get better. Most people are optimistic by nature. But this time people are seeing any help as a sign that things are getting 'worse'.
  16. And more being added every minute.
  17. 898,546 deaths? Huh?
  18. So this kind of thing has happened before and it will happen again. Last few times we took it very seriously and took the appropriate measures but didn't have mass panic over them. Neither by the population nor the leaders. I keep hearing about X number of people infected, and how many dead, but next to nothing about how many have already recovered completely. It's been around 2-3 months. Since there is a 'death rate' there should be a number somewhere. Assuming the rate is %5, and a round number of 5k dead, does that mean the other 95k are all recovered? Oh and stores are now severely limited to what they can order for restock due to mass shortages. And now that the multipacks of water are gone, saw yesterday that they are going after the 12-pack boxes of soda. Panic buying again today. One customer gave me an attitude because she had to wait in the long lines. No shit lady... not that I said that to her. ?
  19. It doesnt matter what pandemic means. All that matters is what people think it means. And to them its a scary word that means the end of everything. Oh and its not just toilet paper. Its tissue paper. Paper towels. Anything and everything with the word 'anti-bacterial' on it. Various canned goods. Pasta, of all things. Rice. Yes, rice. Wipes. Clorox/bleach. Of course water. Potatoes cleaned out. Including those huge 10 pound bags that most people dont bother with. Large sized bags of cheese. Eggs all gone. The store I work at has been full of panicky people for three days buying shit they dont need. And of course when that happens other people... that arent in a panic... go buy shit they dont need because the panicky people are buying everything. So its a snowball effect. When you see many people with shopping carts filled with multiple 24-packs of bottled water, and its not the Fourth of July, then something is wrong. All of this in a crisis largely of our own making. The only conclusion I can reach is that every year the population is getting stupider and stupider.
  20. I suppose a good question is, would you rather have a six pack of TP or a six pack of good beer?
  21. Lets see. The last time this country was shut down was 9/11. And this is no 9/11.
  22. I have that model and it works well. Synology has its own 'raid' format. However, if movies are your goal keep in mind that this model doesnt have the cpu power to transcode higher bitrate video for Plex into whatever format your playback device requires. Going from a bluray rip to an ipad likely wont work. Also if it needs things like captions or subs. They need to be burned into the video stream and transcoded if the playback device cant handle it. And yes, get the RED drives for stability and reliability.
  23. Stock market down 1000 points today. Thanks trump.
