  1. I like the ratmaps, too, Panzie. Especially the one that has the pad on the floor that makes you fly up to the shelf. I always grab my flamethrower and light it up and spin around when I'm in flight. Good for a laugh, and it looks cool. But I always get shot for it, lol. @@Icey - Yuko is that pyramid map, if I'm not mistaken. I know that one is not on everyone's favorite lists. It has some cool features, though. I've been thinking about starting a "Maps You Love/Hate" thread so we can voice our vote and then create some new rotations featuring the better loved maps. Not sure how long it will take, but I think people would really like that.
  2. New map rotations are in on the DM, DM2, Modern Weapons, and Vietnam Freezetag servers. All but the main DM server (because it's got lots of players currently) have been restarted to get these new rotations in play. I will restart it as soon as I can find some slack time for it. Any other admin is welcome to restart it if you find it empty, or get a consensus of okay to restart from all that are currently playing. Report back if you restart so we don't restart it 5 times just because we didn't know. The XI Downloader has been updated with the new map rotations. Have Fun!
  3. Under My Skin was a great CD! It was stuck in my player for a really long time. But my guilty Avril pleasure is this one of her first CD, Let Go. This one was stuck for a seriously long time! Unfortunately, for as fun and whimsical as it is, this isn't quite what defined her overall, and she didn't make an official video for it. But I love that she put herself into this song and the sense of humor that went along with it.
  4. Couldn't watch all of that; too long. Maybe one day because it's so good... But I did watch Miranda and Carrie sing that first song "Something Bad" and all the while I just couldn't help but think about the post I made in the BF4 forum.
  5. It's true what SOB is saying here. I did recently get a 50% boost, I think it is, and I'm coveting the damn thing till a double-xp weekend. Not that that's any great strategy because the weekends are usually jammed with additional excellent players to have to fight through for points. But moreover, boosts coming in Battlepacks, have been almost non-existent. Almost as non-existent as the battlepacks themselves. The great "fall update" saw so many of the payers I'm in with in the mornings getting battlepack after battlepack. Hell, they'd just log in each day and there would be more as if manna from heaven. I got squat for that update, both in terms of battlepacks (maybe 1 or 2) and xp boosts (probably none at all.) That led me to start saying that, just like in real life, it seems that in BF4 too, the rich keep getting richer and the poor get nothing. I play with guys who tell me they have so many XP boost they couldn't use them all if they wanted and can't give them away. How is this fair? I think I was at level 30 before I got a DMR. I'm only at level 34 right now, I think it is, and still only have one to choose from in most soldier classes, but I think the assault class might have a couple or three by now. Because others' experience on these matters vary, I can only assume the bf4 ecosystem is somewhat organic and I'm just having a real bad run of luck with it at this point. Maybe the game will make it up to me later. I can hope, right?
  6. Thanks to everyone for the encouragement. I won't walk away from the game. I'll just do my best to improve.
  7. I know, right? Couldn't have done better myself. LOL
  8. Well there it is - they are giving it away.
  9. At least provide an English translation on this English-language server. This one compliments Google Language Tools:
  10. Well, as I recall, it's now set to the monitor's refresh rate, so 60. But it might be at 120, so might as well give me both of those. Thx.
  11. No thanks. I don't believe in Internet Explorer. It's only value is in downloading Firefox. Beyond that, I don't touch it, much less try to make scripting languages work in compatibility mode on it. *yikes*
  12. Tell Hogan he might want to tune into my internet radio station - Girls Rock Radio I'm sure he and his wife Jennifer would rock out to it
  13. Thanks for letting us know, Panzergirl. I think it's important for all COD5 players to understand that general griping about other players, while given a certain amount of leeway, is not of general good sportsmanship, and all too frequently encroaches on our rules against berating another player for their style of gameplay, or of all out personally attacking the other player. Let's all try to set a good example and not sink to stupid lows. It's about having fun which is always better when you don't sweat the small stuff. I'm probably preaching to the choir since most people who are reading this are already singing the same hymn.
  14. Yeah, I don't have a medal either, but then why would anyone give ME one with the way I perform in BF4. LOL Anyway, kidding aside, that IS what I do, Tom. I aim and I shoot, and I often hit the opponent, who then, realizing that I'm there and shooting at him, immediately turns and takes me straight out. Clearly, if I can perform as well as I do in COD5 - especially feeling pretty shitty after an AWEFUL morning in BF4 - there is evidence that I have the reflexes and aim to perform reasonably in a FPS. So why not in BF4. And why does this POS game never give me any XP boosts? There are players with 5 times the rank that have so many XP boosts, and continually receive more all the time, that wish they could give the damn things away. Yet I get none while my end-of-map rank progress graph moves about 1/40th the way along after each match and I sit at the bottom of the score list 95% of the time. It doesn't matter which gun I use, they all perform equally poorly. I try to optimize each one (whenever I manage to score upgrades for them) for stability, accuracy, and damage, but nothing gets me any better performance. @@OddJob001 - tweaks like what? And although it's a different game than COD, it's still a FPS. As MekkeTom says - aim and shoot; nothing all that complicated about it. @@Sicarius23 - I am used to how it handles. I didn't just start playing last week. Look at ldoz as an example. His rank, having played about the same time as me I think, is twice mine. In COD5, he and I are very similar in terms of proficiency. This is partly why I'm baffled. I get that it's just a computer game, but it sure feels like being singled out by the damn thing for some reason. @@Oneill - I mostly play in the morning on either the UK or US Hardcore servers. Wherever the Breakfast Club is hanging out when I get there. In COD5, it's typically a couple of bullets to score a kill; but it could easily be a whole clip. In BF4, I can dump a clip into someone, and they just turn and take me out. SOB saw that first hand this morning. In one particular scrimmage with him, I had the advantage, started shooting first, dumped a clip into him, and he just mowed me right down. He even said he didn't know why I didn't get the kill. Usually, on the first bullet I take in BF4, my man becomes disoriented and weak and accuracy and aiming go right out the window. But it appear that when others get hit, they are not phased in the least. They just turn and take me straight out. @@Fir3Marshal - Yes, there's all of that, although I'm not sure how much bullet drop there is. That said, I learned a LONG time ago never to run around watching the ground as I see so many other players doing. I keep my gaze (and therefore my gun) up, and as a result, I probably get more "clinks" (headshots) in COD5 than most anybody else. Assuming I'm carrying that concept over to BF4, I should be going a long way toward compensating for bullet fade without even really thinking about it. No stranger to recoil and spread either. In COD5, I'm using an MP40 as my weapon of choice these days, one often regarded as "the worst gun in the game" because it bucks like a sonofabitch. But it does a hell of a job when the bullets connect! The screenshots I posted tell that story! Cool website - thank you! I'm going to check all those videos out for sure. And, no, I really don't expect to be a game-god with only about 6 months of gaming time, but as I'm no stranger to FPS', neither do I think I should be complete shit player day in, day out - especially considering some of the other oddities I've already mentioned. @@Sonovabich - 33 out of how many? 34? LOL. But thanks for the encouragement, I appreciate it. @@MILESHIGH - I could stand to do more in the way of support, but a lot of people told me initially that the way to rank up is to go for the objectives, so I tend to try to capture flags and such. May be I should rethink that strategy, idk. @@mouselad - yeah, practice is key. Unfortunately, as a COD5 Head Admin, I need to split my concentration. I know some think that's the problem right there - going back and forth being a limiting factor. I'm not so sure. Maybe. I guess I just want to give myself a little more credit for being able to shift gears a little more smoothly. But for now, that's just not happening.
  15. After a particularly dismal performance on 2 maps in BF4, I decided to just flip over to COD5. On the first full map I played, this was the result. I'm not always stellar at COD5 either, but I'm not total shit like I am in BF4. So where's the wildcard here? What the fuck am I doing wrong, and why does this game choose to give me nothing?
  16. So what were those packets and fps settings? I'm not so bad in COD5, but a little boost never hurt. I only wish I could say the same for BF4 - I suck over there for some unknown reason, and the game isn't cutting me any slack at all! Also - I thought it was a cool idea to come up with a COD5 Tips and Tweaks Guide. That might help a lot of folks. You've mentioned recording yourself playing just to prove to the naysayers that you really are just that good. Which I believe, btw. But if you do, I think it's gotta be an over-the-shoulder video, not a screen capture. Might be fun to see.
  17. Congrats Pud !!
  18. In areas where they flattened the graphics and went to a limited color pallet, I couldn't agree more. Beyond that, the simple addition of the FREE "Classic Shell" fixed the Start menu complaints and the ability to boot direct to the desktop makes it a clear winner over Win7. And as you point out, the .NET libraries and other under-the-hood improvements just amplify what we actually interact with. Ironically, I've even come to to be somewhat at peace with the dumbed-down desktop window boarders. eh. You move on, right? Always forward, but on just the same, and don't get stuck in the past.
  19. Which is awesome, because the core of Win8.1 is solid and full of excellent improvements over Win7.

    Teamspeak

Weird - we were using it just fine earlier. Reboot?
  21. The video in the post was removed.
  22. Ah - that's where I knew him from. I was thinking it was David Stewart of the Eurithmics.
