Brookies are very cool fish, fun to catch and the picture says it all very colorful. They will readily take most fly's and put up a good fight for their size. My experience catching brookies was in the Sierras of California and because of the high altitude the growing season was short for these fish. Most lakes had a shitload of em and they were all about 6"-10" but for a kid it was a fishing dream. Good times. Where did you catch this one at Scrounger? What fly did it take? (cant quite tell from the picture)

Sometime back in the late 60s and early 70s the breakdown of American families went berserk. Parents started divorcing at a never before seen rate and suddenly you have kids living with 1 parent usually it was with the mother and she had to work to make ends meet . Because mom was not home most of the time kids ran a muck and did mostly what they wanted to do and not what they were supposed to do like Homework and chores around the house. When mom got home from work she was too tired to discipline and help/ force the kids to do their homework so the kids from these families weren't given the proper tools to go out and be good parents and Americans. This isn't moms fault she was doing the best she could. When Dad did show up to "play dad" he wasn't about to try and discipline the kids after all he was only gonna be there for the day and he wasn't gonna be the bad guy .. hell no leave that for mom. Many kids that are parents now days didn't have a father figure and didn't have the proper guidance while growing up so how can these kids/parents raise kids themselves? Now these 1 parent kids are teachers,government officials,policemen, firemen, news reporters and parents themselves without the "tools" to properly raise and teach kids the values and respect needed to be good people and Americans. Religion has lost much of it's impact on people as it suffers from scandal and unscrupulous behavior from the top to the bottom. The office of president in this country has turned into a joke . . no good person is willing to run for fear of somebody digging up some dirt (whether true or not) from their past and subjecting their families to "media hell" when in reality this person would probably be a great president. Everyone has something in their past they aren't proud of but people change. So how to fix this social virus that has infected our American and world population . . . god only knows. It is going to get worse before it gets any better. just my $.02 I have had waaay too much coffee this morning . . .Har!
