sabreeyes Damn if you have been playing with onboard vid, hate to see you with a good card Haven't been on COD4 too much lately, the screen-flicker gives me epileptic siezures (not really, but a headache anyway).... but you have motivated to tough it out & come back more often & give you some "Ferret-love". Hopefully a better card will let me sprint more without running into walls all the time lol

NightmareXI the 5750 will be enough to run the actual games on low maybe even some medium settings... like Merlin said have a look at the dimensions of the old psu and go for a 500 watts that will be enough.... and disable the onboard after that not to cause trouble Just to be sure I understand.... I *should* disable the on-board card if I put the new card in? My brother said the same thing, but the guy at Geek Squad (when we tried to recover my old system image) said that disabling on-board cards will mess up my "driver hierarchy" (or something along those lines) and bug out the OS - and that I should let them run in parallel. The Geek Squad guy seemd to know what he was talking about, but I dunno. Sorry to be Mr. 50 questions.... but I am NOT a techie and all I want to do is play games without having to get a degree in computer science or pay someone $150 to plug in a card & load a driver or two. The card I have is a Radeon 5750. From what I understand, a decent mid-level card that *should* run most games OK. Certianly a lot better than the factory on-board card in there now. The 5750 card requires 450 W for a one-pin connector, the pc has like 275 available. *REALLY* not wanting to load up everything again if it freezes Win7 up again..... if I did get a better power supply, would it be a problem to run that card with the on-board factory card that is in there now? (would they run parallel or should I shut the old one off?) Again, I'm not a hardware techie, but I think my processor is plenty fast enough but being held hostage by an average card. Thanks for help, my friends.....

Yessir, grew up just across the street from Sevier Middle School (Yadkin Street) from '78 to '87, played basketball for Buck Van Huss & Football for Coach Wilson at Dobyns-Bennett.... grad. class of '87. I did have my picture in the ol' Times-News sports section a couple times (for H.S. sports). I worked at "the Eastman" for a couple summers while in college at UT. We used to cruise Center Street & Stone Drive & Ft. Henry Mall trolling for chicks. The ones that came down "to the city" from Gate City & Virginia were easy to pick up, but hard to look at. Parents still live there, I get back there every few months..... I will likely be going to a few DB games this fall with my Dad & Ken Wright (old D-B supporter & lawyer).

It hung up Windows 7 TOTALLY after card installation (wound up having to "re-image" the whole !*@$!*@#$&% hard drive ) . Even after taking the new card out, it wouldn't boot. I don't know much about video cards/ hardware, and a little afraid to try to put in another power supply for the new card & having to re-do my whole damned hard drive again..... what a pain in the fargin' ass. Question - could I run Crysis2 or BlackOps on a playable level with this current rig?

I was there..... I was 12 years old living in Kingsport, TN - I was lucky enough to have cable in my room, and I DID watch the first couple hours of MTV with a couple friends. Our local cable company promoted it. I remember one of the videos played in the first hour was "Love Stinks" by J. Geils Band. I watched many, MANY hours of MTV (before it starting sucking ass), and remember my parents telling me to "turn that trash off and go to bed". But that wasn't a problem.... GorillaXI Just got done uploading the video I took of one of the matches at paintball....I had a blast, but damn it was hot. 90 degrees, running around in pants and a mask makes you tired fast. We plays for 3 hours, but like I said, it was a blast. I couldn't think of a better bunch of Idiots to have as friends. Did you guys (as usual) give the admins their hacks so they could win by 50 kills? Paintball hacks would be tough to come by, but I have faith in you idiots.

Sometimes you do come across pretty sharply & condescendingly.... in my first interaction with you - you snapped on me pretty hard, when I was just self-deprecatingly giving a shout-out/ respect to BigMeanDean about his legendary knifing skills. Actually you were pretty much an ass at first, but later comments kinda softened the whole thing to friendly, humorous jabs. It takes us Yanks a while to "get" British humor..... but I think I understand it better now. People are the generally the same, but cultural differences DO exist. I don't think you are a bad guy at all, but I think maybe you assume the positive aspects need no comment, and feel the need to more verbosely comment on the negative. Having played against you for a while now, I think you are all right..... I WOULD sincerely like to see you hang around. But honestly, my first impression was skewed by the sarcasm & negativity. Just take the time to be friendly & positive, and sometimes negative comments can go unspoken (we Yanks are a little different in that regard), and everything will be fine. But hat-tip for the post..... appreciated.
