Hey guys and gals,

I am currently planning a trip with my wife and two teenage daughters to London and Paris next summer. Wondering if there are any locals here that could give me a recommendation as to what part of each city would be the best for us to stay in. This will be our first time traveling to either city, so we will be wanting to see all the typical "tourist" locations you would expect. I am looking at possibly using AirBnB to book an apartment....but staying in a nicer hotel is also an option. We will be in London for 6 nights and Paris for 5 (although I really want to stay 1 night out near Omaha beach somewhere and see all of the D-Day sights out there...not sure I can get all the ladies to agree to that).

Any thoughts from anyone with some local knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

Peace out.

My son was just in London and Paris a few weeks ago with grandparents.  They used airbnb.com to get apartments.  I can send you the ones they stayed at, they had no problems.

They took a train to Normandy, about a two hour trip each way, had a blast!!!

I live in Paris, feel free to ask me if you have any question about your stay .Some of my best friends are renting a nice airbnb apt but it has only 1 queen and one single bed i will ask them if it's possible to add one mattress and let you know.

About normandy as Gatorgirl said it's easy to go there by train however i would suggest to rent a car for the day and drive there ( easy 2 hours drive from Paris ) it would allow you to visit the D-Day area and also the "Mont-Saint-Michel" before driving back to Paris. You can do it all in one day.Not visiting Mont Saint Michel when in Normandy would be a crime in my opinion lol

For London I really like the NH Kensington, It is close to the subway and is right on a bus stop. Also, it is very easy to get a cab. It's very close to downtown london and there are a few museums are close by. You can walk to the VA museum. There are two grocery stores close by and several restaurants. A bank is on the corner for easy ATM access. Also, each room has a refrigerator which is key! The staff is helpful and friendly. The hotel itself is nothing fancy but it is clean and convenient. I like staying there and have been there many times.

There is also a Holiday Inn just down the street from the NH Kensington. It is good also and I have stayed there a few times. However, I prefer the NH for the reasons listed above.

Thanks GG...that would be great. Do you know if the places they stayed had room for 4 people to sleep comfortably?

Thanks for the tip. Was just on their website, and it looks like all of their rooms have a max of 3 people...even the suites. I'll take a look at the Holiday Inn now.

Very cool....thanks. The London apartment looks very nice....have to look at the location. Did they feel it was pretty central to what they wanted to do?

The second link doesn't work for me....maybe the people took it off the rental market.
