Defenatly Sabot or HE and HMG (for spraying down infantry) as a seccondairy. Further active armour and a belt feeder/auto loader...

I prefer Sabot/HMG for Weapons, Active Protection for Countermeasures and Autoloader for Upgrades

That was kind of what I thought as well. Was mostly trying to figure out if it is better for auto loader or reactive armor. I like the HE shell if more infantry on a map over the sabot shell. I also use the staff shell as the secondary shell. I like it best for dealing with jeep stuff.

I usually go for sabot shells in the bigger maps, like Silk Road or Golmud. Great for long range and taking out helos. Downside of the sabot is that is does not do any splash damage, so agains infantry it is kinda useless unless you get a direct hit. Same goes kinda for the HE shell, does a bit better damage against armor but not good against infantry. An other downside of the HE shell is that the reload takes a bit longer for each shell. If you compare the DPS from the HE shell with the other shells you'll see that there is no real difference, so in my eyes the HE shell isn't worth it. Sabot is great for distance and the normal AP shell is great for splash damage and thus taking out players behind cover.

Here are the stats for the shells and stuff. As you can see both Sabot and AP do the same damage, the HE does a bit more but is slower and drops off quite a bit, so distance is a bit harder as well.

For secondary i'd go with cannister shells on the big maps, it is like a shotgun :D Great for taking out infi at a distance with one shot or taking out that pesky jihad jeeps. And the best part is, it is great for taking out planes since the pellets spread out nicely and act kinda like a goalkeeper ^^ Downside is obivious the reload, you can either fire the cannister or main shell. So for the smaller maps i run HMG usually.

I think the autoloader is the better option, reactive armor is nice for taking on a rear shot so you can still move. But with good tank placement you have that part covered and it is nice to fire a bit faster ^^

Just stick to AP (learn how to aim long distances), HMG and thermal or zoom seems to work just fine for me. And for protection the countermausures and armor. On bigger maps I go with auto reload instead of armor

The thing with the armour is, that it does not reduce damage like it did in bf3. In bf4 the armour only protects you from being immobilized. However, once hit the armour disapears until you repair, so you are vulnerable again for a second hit from the same direction.

Also, a quite usefull option is the smokescreen. When popped all weapons do minimal damage against your tank, no matter what angle they hit you. You have to stay in the smoke though, but in cte the smoke now keeps popping for the entire duration. So you can drive along in a smokescreen. Also it makes you unspotted on the map, even if you're not in the smoke itself. Though, in hardcore with no minimap it makes less of a difference. And off course it does not protect you against lock-on weapons. But i've used it quite a bit and found it to be very usefull, specially in tank battles since the smoke reloads much faster then the apc and last longer ^^

A good Gunner is also Recommended, one who keeps an eye on your Ass and preferbly also an Engineer who will pop out repair you and pop back in again, ! Not a Gunner who keeps firing the way you are pointing and pops out and does a legger when the going gets tough!! :) Not pointing any fingers at anyone :)

A gunner, if good, is indeed a must. And then comes the communication, without it you´re a sitting duck.

Oh yeah, forgot about the most important part ;) A good gunner on voice is the most powerfull combination, even more so when the gunner has his repair tool with him :D

Got a kill streak of about 50 in a tank with a great gunner on voice, without him i would've been killed by c4 ninjas.

The BEST loadout is put C4 all over your tank, ohh and some landmines and clay's. And go drive into people and tanks. The clay keeps the infantry at bay and the C4 works great when you ram it into another tank!

Oh, I did forget to mention you can't get shot at while doing any of that. So put some stealth coating on so they don't see you coming!

I love being an idiot!
