On this day in 1842 a British army doctor by the name of William Brydon reaches the British sentry post at Jalalabad,Afghanistan,

the lone survivor of a 16,000 strong expeditionary force that was massacred in it's retreat from Kabul ....The people change and time goes by but the names of the places remain the same.....Vietnam ring a bell ? we didn't learn from the French occupation there in the 50's did we? and still  another centuries old conflict is going on and we don't learn....I know for me it's lives that could have been saved, not just Americans EVERYBODY and money we could have spent on better things. What do you think will happen when we pull out along with the other nations involved?

History is there for a reason it's about time we use it.I'm sorry if this comes out as a rant but when I saw that article it hit a nerve. There are plenty of people out there who lost loved ones because of these(conflicts)and when soldiers come home and see what has happened in Iraq since they left.....what were we doing and why were we there for so long? is a good question that really hasn't been answered yet.And what about Afghanistan?

Only 4000 of that Expeditionary Force were Soldiers though, 12,000 were Civilians, looks like things have not changed in the respect that these Bastards still like massacring Civilians.

Too much time is spent winning wars. Very little thought and treasure is spent winning the peace. That's the hard part.

Thats very true Beers, I would also add that justifying peace is difficult if we should have not been there in the first place.
