We're back to the server browser problems again. XI's have disappeared completely and they seem to have "lost" around 6,000 today! Only a few hundred actually appear and one has to wait for them to trickle down the wire. It's a shambles.

A whole range of connection issues today... That affecting the XI servers is an inability to connect at all. But at least one UK server is also affected and I'd guess that the >1 minute wait to get on anything (compared with around seven seconds previously) just indicates the strain on the network during the first weekend following launch.

Hope you don't mind me piggybacking on your post, killgirl, to add my thanks too. I felt very flattered indeed. Those pandas are adorable!

There seem to be many issues in these early days. I guess they couldn't beta test with a cast of thousands... My game has been crashing every 3-6 games sometimes requiring a restart of the PC to resume play. It wasn't this bad until the game update came out one day after release - that was supposed to make better use of the quad-core CPU here! I have, hopefully but not confidently, updated the video card driver in case that will do something.

KillingTime Hi all, I'm not sure what the hell to do here to edit profile name. I would like to switch from my steam profile name to" KillingTime" but I already have six other games via Steam under 2 accounts. Now I'm peranoid about this change. I have racing games that let you create any profile name you want under Steam I think? I read how to edit and I get that part but with my other games under steam and the possibilty of fucking up my accounts and loosing all my other games just to change my profile name for Black ops is making me nervous.... Any Steam savy folks out there that can help I would be greatly appreciated. Im wondering if changing your Steam profile name would affect loging on to Steam to play a different game? Would if reset my other Steam games? Or just lose all my other Steam games and have to repurchase? What can I say I'am an xtremeidiot. Sonovabich - Black Ops, how many servers? I wonder if anyone out there is having the same problem i'm having trying to find all the servers, at the moment i see Black Ops is running 10,764 servers, but this morning when i refresh my server browser it tells me my maximum servers are 584 and i can locate 571 of these servers, yesterday i managed to find 665 servers out of a maximum of 6,494 and that was only because i left it about 30 mins to find them servers, why can't i locate all the servers, at this rate there is no way i will ever find our servers, yesterday i got into (through invite) one of our servers very briefly before i was kicked ( thank you for that i am a member) while i was in i thought i better put this in my favourites, did it twice but it still don't show in there today, yet i have 3 other servers in there i added yesterday and they stayed no prob, the only thing i think is causing this is because of the very few servers that show up in my browser that i can only add to my favourites from servers i can actually see, help please. Don't get upset about being kicked - I believe this is an automatic function doing this as I have experienced it myself. Just be prepared to re-connect if you have to take a bathroom break between games... It sometimes happens in the middle of a game and I think Steam has something to do with it.

Sweatnbullets Game ran 50 % better for me tonight, wheres >XI< server on list? Will it be marked >XI< or extreme idjits? They appear as "XI Ranked Server 1" etc.

CplMOFO I think the >XI< servers aren't up yet, I might be wrong tho. Yes, but to err is human! I've managed to find Ranked Servers 1 & 2 in the listing in game but not at the same time. It looks like the hosting company is randomly removing servers from this list to cope with the large numbers to be accommodated (see the other thread that gives an update) so you have to keep refreshing the list and then take the opportunity to add them to favourites when they do appear. The main issue for me at the moment is that the game keeps locking up from time to time, either in a game itself or even at the classes menu. When I close it down via the tasks manager, I am then unable to run either Steam or CoD BO. So, I suspect Steam is the culprit. It hasn't made the game unplayable yet but just means I have to restart the computer every time it happens. I'm pleased that I am gradually getting to grips with TDM and beginning to enjoy it. Hopefully I can play a game on the XI servers without a team-kill (I don't do this on other TDM servers, you're just lucky! ).

I know Beers used to be in the US Coastguard so maybe this will bring back happy memories of life aboard?? This is the Japanese Coastguard, by the way. I don't think they issue schoolgirl outfits to the USCG personnel. Or maybe they do??

Jalepeno I suck, but I like it.... yeah laggy, but its a start... anxious for mods.... I think I am a fan Do you have the feeling you've seen parts of the maps on our Vietnam Freezetag server too? There's a sense of familiarity with this game despite it being new... It looks like the son of an unholy marriage between CoD5 and MW2 sometimes. I do like the Nuketown map - that's fun, if a little small.

I manage this with TuneUp Utilities here - seems to be much easier and one can toggle them on and off at will.

SgtHarryWeezer OK. Just to add to this. I've now added the second XI Black Ops server to the Clan Xfire list. If you now open Xfire on your desktop and let it detect all installed games, it will add Black Ops to your Xfire. Now, go to Servers in Xfire (the third button down on the left) and then scroll down to "All." You'll see that you now are showing both XI Black Ops servers. However, both are returning the message that they are Password Protected, and each "is not responding to information query." So, we apparently do have some configuration issues on our servers. Why are they password protected? Harry, both servers are shown in the list as you describe but the option to "Join" is greyed out.

Sonovabich Yeah but what i can't understand it tells me there are about 8000 servers but i only get a maximum of about 240, so i ain't got much chance of finding our servers. Filter>Reset>Refresh??

UnChileno this game is fucking shit...the lag is so bad...cant even play single player...wtf is that...Im done with it until they fix that shit..Ill just do like 2manyBeers...Im going to go throw the book..and figure it out..lmao..."THE BOOK"...TOO FUNNY..There has to be something in that 1 and half pages about the lag... With your PC in its current state of health, it is remarkable that you managed to play the game at all... hackeklaus löl i played the multiplayer for the first time and i land on a server filled up with fucking fuck aimbotters .me against 10 aimbotters so fucking stupid shit game right now I'm not taking things too seriously. Best placing to date is 3rd in a FFA game. The thing that gave me most pleasure was taking out an Apache with a missile launcher. You get a 300 XP bonus only but it was great to blow the sucker up! I ended last night ranked 4,886th and at Level 20 (Sergeant First Class 1). Good fun for a day's "work"!

2_MANY_BEERS That will just make it show in xfire that you are playing that game won't it. It won't do nothing for your favorites? You might be able to connect to the server through xfire if you find someone on our servers. Someone has to find them first!! LOL Well, Beers, it turns out in this case that you are right but that isn't supposed to be the way it works... One should be able to add any server as a favourite via the favourites dialogue like this: BUT when I clicked on that descending menu where Call of Duty 2 Multiplayer can be seen, CoD BO was not listed! I have tried restarting X-Fire and also running it in-game (but you can't add favourites in-game...) Back to the drawing board...

Great news, guys! X-Fire have updated the client to include support for CoD Black Ops! You should have the update automatically but if not you can get it via the blog page here: http://www.xfire.com/blog/theblog/2258949/ Now going to try to add the XI servers to favourites...

And no Xfire support yet...

hackeklaus why do i have a game-dvd when it downloads all the stuff from steam? It should only download an update from Steam when you have installed the game from the disc.

007andahalf so what does the fps look like? are you running a high powered pc set up or relatively normal Deejay? I haven't measured the fps but it plays very similarly to CoD5 and the visuals are good at 1024x768. I have a modest rig - i7 860, 4GB RAM and Radeon 4870. Some of the servers have been a bit laggy and several of Treyarch's have been falling over under the strain. One got stuck in a loop at the end of a game in Nuke Town and players just got nuked over and over without the game starting. I'm up to Level 12 now but it's been a hard slog and I have three custom classes equipped. The under-barrel flamethrower attachment is handy but a reload takes forever - not as deadly as in CoD5 by a long chalk. I don't think much of the shotgun even with a grip and a claymore will set you back 5000 CP so they aren't cheap. I've played mostly FFA, best placing third with a k/d of 1.00 (no, I don't think I'm going to set the world on fire in this game either!). TDM was pretty disastrous - think I lost the team the game so made a rapid getaway...

Phew! Back in the game now! This is connected to setting up a Steam Community ID. Once this was done, no further problem has been experienced. Why do they make things so complicated?! I was so looking forward to this game and this has just introduced anger to a day that should have been all fun...

I have cracked this - hooray! Open Steam and select Settings>View Steam Community Profile. You have to set up the Steam Community ID and you can choose whatever name you please - it does not affect your log-in details (if you mess with them you might have to re-purchase all games registered to the old one so beware).
