PrimalFear It would have been nice for them to include more than a 4 page pile of crap for a players guide with the game. I'm almost prestige 2 and I haven't figured out the B52 bombing thing because I have only had the killstreak reward twice, and the last time I completely obliterated my entire team including myself and got kicked/banned off the server for it. I don't know if I'm laying down the take off runway or the bombing path or what but I put it on the other side of the map and still made an ass of myself Heheh! I got two RCXDs the other day (in one game!) - the first one was blown up before it went anywhere and I crashed the second into a wall in an unoccupied part of the map... (I didn't know what I was doing at all...)

NB: I embedded the YouTube video above but, for whatever reason, it hasn't displayed. It is on the memorial fund's page too so please visit that to view it if it doesn't show above.

Our Gurkhas are the bravest of the brave. The battle to secure their residence in the UK after service was won. Now a statue of a modern Gurkha soldier has been commissioned to honour the sacrifice of those who have given their lives in defence of the nation. Please view the video and consider a donation towards the memorial fund. You can donate using PayPal via http://www.gurkhamemorialfund.org.uk/

Happy Birthday to all celebrating today!

For all its faults, PlusNet (www.plus.net), an independent subsidiary of British Telecom, is transparent about its services and tells potential users what they can expect from their packages. The description of an Internet connection as "up to 8 Meg" or "up to 20 Meg" is simplistic. Depending on the time of day, it is likely that many services will be throttled back. Fortunately, if one chooses the right package, this does not include gaming or streaming which are provided at "line speed" 24/7. Having had to deal with TalkTalk to get a disabled relative's line fixed, I can't say that I would ever consider signing up with them, personally...

Bigmeandean Thanx ever so much Sun, I found everything I needed and was able to do some of the things I wanted as for the rest I will finish those later but now I know where and how! Bear in mind that it'll let you buy attachments that have been unlocked but, generally, only equip the weapon with one of them (unless you also have a perk that permits two.) So, one has to choose, for example, whether to equip an optical sight or a grip. If you don't select "Buy and equip" at the time of purchase, don't forget to go back and put a tick next to your chosen attachment before you enter battle or it won't appear on the weapon (that puzzled me till I worked out what I hadn't done... ). As your XP go up, you'll be able to customise more with camo, adding tags to the weapon etc. Their appearance depends on how large the weapon is. Some look great, others less so because the player emblem is on the side of the gun rather than the surface facing the player.

I know that many of us have recently suffered frustrations with this game but we have tried, in the main, to keep positive and persevere with what has been provided by the programmers. We also have a clan spirit to maintain and each of us knows our responsibility in that regard. So imagine my horror when I rounded the corner, this morning, and found this slacker sunbathing instead of fighting! So remember that, if you ease up, you will be found out - not one step backwards!

Primalfear, as you say if it isn't the way the game has been coded that is causing the many thousands of us to have enduring problems, you clearly have a better idea as to what the problem could be? I agree with SOB's view that assuming a problem is being caused by a system running the program is entirely erroneous when that system exceeds the published minimum specs, has up to date drivers and, in the case here, one of Intel's most recent and most powerful quad core processors (for which the game was supposedly optimised by the first disastrous patch). Your assertion that it is a Radeon problem specifically doesn't hold water when there are benchmark test results on the web showing comparative performance scores. If ATI cards could not run the game properly, the testing could not have occurred (I have seen no mention of Radeons falling over at the high resolutions and settings used for these tests, either). It isn't acceptable to release a game for the PC market that is so poorly coded that it won't run properly on thousands of machines and then to dismiss valid customer criticisms with ridiculous advice such as to turn off ones antivirus. If the game won't run properly alongside a massively popular security suite with a special gaming mode, it hasn't been tested properly. I remain convinced that CoD BO has a memory leak as the freeze-ups are so regular and predictable. Similar quantities of resources are being eaten away every session. Imagine a toilet that is never flushed - eventually it fills up and overflows and has us crying "Shit!" again...

Sonovabich I aint got any anti virus running at the moment Evool and please stop blaming everyone else it's the fucking stinking useless fucking game and fucking stinking fucking useless fucking steam so fuck it Yeah what he said! If Activision or anyone else for that matter expects me to switch off my firewall and antivirus to play their fuckin' game, they're out of their minds... They can spend some of the 400 million they took in five days on programmers who can fuckin' code!

I have a Radeon 4870 here. It may be making way for something better early next year but not with CoD BO specifically in mind. One of my favourite marble blasting games has just had a 5th anniversary edition released (Luxor) so I may be spending more time on that than recovering from crashes!

The much anticipated patch came down the wire on start-up, this morning, and I was hopeful that my crash-every-third-game problem might have been fixed. The first game crashed at its conclusion - a step backwards, I thought, and, for me a game-killer. I went into the Steam forums and found a suggestion that one should verify the game cache from within Steam so I did so. No apparent problems were detected so I ran GBoost to shut down unnecessary processes and tried again. Initial results were favourable - the game did not crash during the third game but I played on into a fourth and then a fifth! Hooray, I thought... But then the game froze as soon as the sixth game loaded. I hope that others have fared better. The slow process of attrition continues. I saw the Head of Development from Treyarch interviewed in a lengthy Gamespot video and he spoke of how they had designed the game to remove "the grind". Well, they've failed in that respect, certainly, because each day that passes sucks the love for this game out of me... I don't think I have ever played such a faulty computer game and I have been playing them for 25 years! If it isn't fixed properly soon, I'm going to walk away from it.

Sitting- Sitting- If anyone doesn't want the game.. I wouldn't mind having their copy xD Need a new coaster for your coffee mug?
-
Thanks for the response. I'd mistakenly thought that the process was semi-automatic and triggered by provision of a password for a reserved slot (the game then randomly selecting the victim to be shown the door). Got you all on X-fire etc so will do as advised if necessary.

Question: If we find a clan server full with Unknown Soldiers playing and we want in, how do we go about it please?

evool you guys need to realize one thing .. game just got released .. of course theres bug .. every other Cod series game went thru tons of patches beffore you could complete enjoy the game ... issues for some ppl, smooth game runing for others .. as far as im concerned they are fixing the dman thing as we speak. i for exsample had NO issues with the game ... it runs smooth .. the only thing i get is server side lag .. thats it. so i am not sure what are you guys doing with steam or your game but theres nothing wrong with it. like i said wait for the patches beffore you lose the hype .. its a great game just has some issues for some ppl that needs to ne fixed. now about steam .. its the most awesome thing ever well after xfire of course .. automated game updates, easy community options and thse are just two easy to use options in steam .. its great when u get used to it ... i've been using it since it game out with Counter Strike i believe, well i got it then anyway ... its very simple and looks good too. Oh yeah, Steam is just great... If you have another program supported by it on the same machine as CoD BO, it tries to update that whilst you are in game and crashes friggin' Black Ops! It is and always has been a heap of crap IMHO.

Sonovabich cplmofo even when people do chat to each other (me and johnnydos just been in ffa) your voice is lost when you get killed so the conversation drys up immediately, unless both of you are killed then you can still talk...talk about fucked up Unlike CoD WaW, when someone speaks, there's no identifier on the screen. So, unless it's Beers with his trademark laugh, Chile with the trademark war cry, scream and laugh, or a few of my fellow Brits whose voices I know, I can't tell who's talking. A small omission by them with a major effect.

That is a thing of beauty, pwr'! I bet he doesn't take it out in the rain! Any idea what engine that is?? Looks like a V6???

Please welcome the much needed black ops game admins
DEEJAYKEG replied to Ruggerxi's topic in Other Games
Thank you very much, all of you, for stepping into these positions so the XI servers can be rectified. As Rugger says, the game is "fucked up" but we also have a minor asshole visitor problem that can now be addressed. Just please don't practise kicking on me as I have to exit the game and reload it every two games due to its memory leak bug. -
Members are like London buses. You don't see one for ages then a whole load come along!

I've seen [3arc]democlient in our online servers. Does this mean that one of the player slots is taken up by a bot???

It isn't simply TKs in TDM. TK with a gun and you get a deduction in points. However, TK with a helicopter and it looks like you are kicked (saw that happen yesterday).
