  1. The way you describe your doctor's outlook possibly suggests a dismissive attitude towards an obvious mental health issue and it is regrettable that she seems to have opted for an abrupt end to one aspect of the support you have been receiving. It betrays the erroneous "buck your ideas up" reaction to a person who is in distress and plagued by worries, never mind the 'advance grief' of someone who has a very sick close relative. Yes, there are ways one can help oneself and perhaps provide some periods of respite from stress. If you would like to explore them, here's a link to one charity that provides advice. Your friends in the clan aren't around all the time so, if you need to talk, don't forget the Samaritans organisation - they aren't just there for the suicidal. They're available 24/7/365: http://www.samaritans.org/how-we-can-help-you/contact-us I really do wish you better times and that your Dad's condition stabilises so you can experience some joy once again.
  2. Thanks, Dean. I think this happened again, yesterday, so it may be another of the maps that doesn't work on the Linux server as @@2_MANY_BEERS has described recently.
  3. (Just like that!) Welcome!
  4. Dynnargh dhis!
  5. Well deserving of applause!
  6. I wonder if he will be in the future. Bollocks is bollocks no matter who airs it.
  7. Law-breaking takes place all over the world, not just in the UK. More to the point, the fact that a handful of idiots chose to break the law doesn't indicate the country is chock-full of them... It could be more accurate to say that these incidents took place in a specific borough of London but that is less sensational. At least you included the link reporting the perpetrators had been jailed.
  8. @@little_old_man FOX chose its "expert", no one else did, so FOX can't avoid criticism for airing this garbage! The population of Brum is 1,085,000. I'm sure you'd be able to find two or probably more people there who believed that the New World Order ran the planet and aliens owned California too... Seriously, the opening admission that these two Herberts were working in conjunction with the "BNP" betrays their agenda. The British National Party is a fascist political party! There has been some inventive reaction via Twitter from astounded readers... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/11339077/The-truth-about-Birmingham-foxnewsfacts.html
  9. @Roxy!
  10. The person speaking is supposedly an "expert" speaking about the UK! I don't think he has ever set foot in London or Birmingham! What a moron!
  11. Sorry the birthday greeting's late, mate! We've been sorting out the barbie!
  12. Let's educate Foxy Roxy further from a male perspective. The problem we men have is not really related to the thing itself but more the balls as they are fragile and vulnerable even to the extent that, if we sit down suddenly, we can cause ourselves immense pain! The video did not deal with "size" and the associated myths nor did it mention that we have as much penis inside our bodies as on the exterior. So, if someone boasts about an " 8-incher" that suggests a real "16-incher"! The organ shrinks in response to temperature changes. If one lives in Wisconsin, one changes sex for four months of the year. The curse for men is that this organ really is a "use it or lose it" piece of anatomy. This is why men aged 50+ (like me) are so miserable and grumpy.
  13. A couple from this week's British birthday boys! Happy Birthday to David Bowie (68) and Rod Stewart (70).

  15. The following countries in the European Economic Area do not issue their nationals with identity cards (which are recognised travel documents for movement between countries within the EEA): UK, Republic of Ireland, Iceland, Norway and Denmark. Therefore, for most international travel, a full passport is required. (I shall ignore the reference to the UK being "screwed" @@codpiece as you probably know my political affiliation and thoughts about the European Union! )
  16. If you seek a comparative performance guide to inform your decision, take a look at Virus Bulletin. The test results can be revealing: https://www.virusbtn.com/index
  17. Predictably, the cloud cover has increased tonight here when this newly-discovered blue-green comet is at its closest approach to Earth - 44 million miles. I wonder if @@Astronomer has his scope ready to take some photos later on? The article describes the path of the comet and where to look for it. Fortunately the constellation of Orion is one of the easier ones to spot with the naked eye. Click here: http://www.space.com/28196-comet-lovejoy-visible-eridanus-constellation.html
  18. Got this news late so belated congratulations Budman!
  19. Je suis Charlie.
  20. @@2_MANY_BEERS Here's another one for Mr Rotation... Another map on the DM 2 server seems to trigger the "unhandled exception" error that crashes players' computers: MP_WDOCKS This is odd as the map has previously worked perfectly on the original DM server. By the time I had restarted the game on my PC, the map had switched to MP_SHIRO and there were no further problems. I suggest we keep an eye on WDOCKS and pull it from the rotation if this recurs continually? [Edit to correct map name]
