Pharticus reacted to Astronomer in Wanna Hear Some Bullshit?
It's events like this that help you differentiate between leeches and friends. Good to know that you saw who they really are before you invested time and energy with them that could be best spent with real friends, the ones that have your back when you need them and have no sense of entitlement to leeching off of your hard work.

Clearly, it means nothing to him.
I've known you for many years General from the COD2 days. I am disappointed that you would close the door on old and loyal friends who play fairly and respect you, to support a friend who cheats. Bad decision on your part and you will come to regret it. As to Killing Pleasure, don't let the door hit ya, etc. To hand in your tags and in effect tell your comrades to go screw themselves, only because somebody else did, tells me all I need to know about your loyalty.
You have been removed from Clan Xfire. Good luck General.

I contend that a company's profits and its balance sheet are not the business of its employees, period. A highly profitable company owes nothing more to its employees than what it already has agreed to pay them. If the owner of a company decides to take all of his profits in cash, and go out in the back yard and burn it, that's not the concern of his employees.
Employees offer skill sets to an employer, who reimburses them for use of those skill sets. Employees work for a compensation package they agree to upon being hired - their decision whether to accept that offer of unemployement under those terms. If the company makes twice as much money as it intended in a year, that's its money to keep - or share among investors, whatever. Employees aren't owed any part of excess profits. They've already been compensated for their work. They may unionize, and then attempt to coerce an employer to give them more of the employer's profits on threat of strike. But if they in fact do strike, I believe the employer should be able to fire them at will, and replace them with employees who will accept the current compensation package.
An employer should be free to cut hours, wages, or contributions to a retirement plan for any reason. If an employee finds that unacceptable, he can leave and seek other employment. He is owed nothing more than what he has been paid for his skill sets. He didn't start the company. He didn't make that investment or take that risk. And he has no claim to excess profits and if employment conditions change, he has the option to take his skill sets elsewhere.
I heard my father, a machinist, curse the union he was forced to join when it went on strike. All he wanted to do was work and feed his family and he was content with what he was paid. But that strike, and a subsequent one, where the union demanded more and more and more, finally prompted the company to fold, which left him out of a job.

A business is suffering because of the economy in part, but also because it can't afford union compensation. But rather than take any cuts in compensation to keep themselves employed, to keep food on the table, the union workers walk. And so now, they are out of a job. Good!!
Sadly, two-thirds of Hostess employees are non-union, and they, too, are out of a job.Typical.

Pharticus reacted to Cpt.TennealXI in The Facts About The Manthis Controversy
Unreal....at least we can all take solace in the fact that we've had probably 700 or so members in and out over the years, and these jackasses have been a pretty rare occurance. Put that many people in a room and there's bound to be more nutcases than we've encountered so for a bunch of idiots i would say we are ahead of the average!

Pharticus reacted to Gatorgirl in The Facts About The Manthis Controversy
I have been thinking about what to say for several days now as I did not want to post when I was LIVID!! I've seen this developing on facebook and it got me thinking. Most of the early comments were about Manthis, but I thought to myself, there is no way that one person could do this. Jackk had to know, I mean really, I couldn't tell you all that Angus had died and get away with it without him going along. I mean come on!! I'm mad at both of them!!
The sad reality is that this is going on more and more these days. At my company we had an employee who told everyone that his wife had Stage 4 brain cancer and just months to live, treatment is not an option, that was 2 1/2 years ago and miraculously she has not lost any weight, color is good, etc... For other reasons he is no longer with the company. I found out after he left that he and his wife would join a church, tell the congregation that they had no money for food, medicine, etc... and stay there until the money dried up and then move to a different church! What a scam artist. They have 6 kids between them and I shutter to think what those kids have been taught.
I guess I'm just a sucker because I live my life treating others the way I want to be treated and I'm damn sure not going to change that, and from the time I've spent with all of you here at XI and the reactions to this situation I believe that you all are the same way. So I guess I'll (we'll) be duped again and again, but such is life. Love you all!!

Manny,
What can I say to you... what can I do, my wife just held me as I wept for the loss my friend, my pal, my ameo! My problems brought us back together and we are closer than I think we have ever been, I'm so sorry you didn't get that chance with Jackk.
I want you to know I had a chance to Minister to him and I feel deep within my heart that what I said to him took place and it had its chance to grab hold of him.
I can't seem to stop crying and I know, I'll never be the same again, and I don't know what to do for you...
My heart weeps for your loss and I am so very sorry for you and your family.
As Jackk and I faced our demons together, I was blessed enough to pull through, but he, was blessed enough to now sit with the Lord!
Hes not hurting anymore Manny, no more pain, and I can't express to you just how painful it really is to go through that, the loss of so much
that so many take for granted.
I didn't realize eariler what had happened and then I saw your post, Oh God Manny, to not feel the pain anymore, please please understand, Jackks ok!
I can't help but feel that no matter what I say, it doesn't take the pain away for you and for that I am so sorry.
But because I know what he was going through, I know hes better!
I love ya little sister, and if you need me and want to talk, I am here for you and I'll stay on xfire while online so you can reach me if the need comes ok.
We are praying for you and your family!
I Love Ya,

Pharticus reacted to Arrienn in To Stop The Scroll Wheeling On Ftag Server 1
I would like to add to this. No offense intended Manthis, but saying its not fair because not everyone has a mouse with a scroll wheel is never gonna fly. Not everyone can afford a top of the line computer either, which can make a big difference in game play as well. It is what it is. Like Grey says, it doesnt alter files, so it stays.
Honestly, I dont mind it too much. Just makes me all the more happy when I can kill the fucker with the scroll wheel bound. =)

Pharticus reacted to DEEJAYKEG in Goodbye To A Living Saint
I know religion is a banned topic around here so I risk censure for typing this message but I hope the example of the guy I am going to talk about may inspire others and, particularly, comfort those who are facing major health issues currently.
I met Brother Rick Bunch, an American who ran a mission in Thailand, caring for HIV/AIDS sufferers, in February 2011, when he accompanied a priest I was picking up from Heathrow Airport to begin a post as curate of our local parish. Brother Rick made an immediate impression on me. He was visibly in poor health but that didn't cramp his style - he was outgoing, committed and a great guy to talk to. We had common ground - one of my former areas of "business" was investigating people trafficking and he had rescued women and children from the clutches of gangs in Thailand and Burma. Some women had been in cages and the children had been as young as eight years old. Yes, eight years old!
I returned home announcing to my wife that I had just met "the closest thing to a living saint" possible. Much later, I learned that this guy had worked alongside the Blessed Mother Theresa. He'd also discussed the plight of HIV/AIDS sufferers with our own Queen Elizabeth, whom he respected greatly.
The man confounded doctors. With his complex health problems - he was a diabetic whose heart had been seriously damaged by multiple heart attacks, he suffered from Parkinson's Disease and neuropathy - medical opinion was that he should not have been still alive! But he was! We knew why he was, of course, and Who was keeping him going! But his attitude to suffering was that it, along with everything else we are given, was a gift. The question to be asked was not "Dear God, why do you permit this?" but "Dear God, what lesson am I expected to learn from this?".
The world has lost a mighty agent for love and goodness and I am saddened to learn of his passing.
But his example can inspire others - doctors are not the arbiters of life and death... That privilege belongs to
He who brought you into being.
Farewell to an extraordinary man. RIP +
