Seems a lot has to do also with how careful you are with them. If you throw them around then they need to be beefier in their construction. But if they never leave your desk then more options might be available. I agree, get a headphone amp. Even a basic one is better than realtek. Just to note, I have read that there can be sound degradation if you have things amped up by both the card and the headset. Best to only do only or the other. But thats just internet reading. For gaming vs studio. I paid $100+ for my standard headset. I dont have a lot of money to spend on such things. Not a great one certainly but supposed to be good for its class. My gaming set, which cost a bit less, sounds significantly better for some reason for both games and music. At least to my old ears. So its a crap shoot and there is no substitute for actually listening to them. edit. the $100 set were on a good sale so retail was around $150 at the time.

Its actually a great game. But its not arcade and you have to really pay attention to every detail. Most people dont want to do that. The trend in AAA titles has been to make them easier not harder. Just with more tricks.

Yes things like that are possible. However I wont be doing much modding for a long while. Currently we are having to make a huge number of costly repairs to the house. Too much got put off over the years and it shows. A few of which basically means packing up everything into storage and moving out for at least three weeks. Termite/beetle tenting. Then the floors and they want everything in the house out. Repairs and painting the exterior. And since I will be doing most of the packing myself that means my days are shot and tired in the evenings. Took a short break to check email and messages. In a few back to the salt mines and a little more packing before I have to make dinner.

Sounds like its the kind of server where a tourney should be set up to meet. Then switch the test server for it. Like for the knife game.

For the decal or bushes see if there is any kind of physics or something else applied to it. Like wire fences. You can shoot bullet weapons through them but cannot fire projectiles through them. Fences of this kind often block the traces used to find frozen players.

Not related to the issue you are having but if you primarily use headphones I would get a basic headphone amp sound card. Inexpensive and much better sound than realtek.

I suppose there seems to be some miscommunication. The sound works? For sound effects and music and such? But you cannot hear anybody talking while playing? If so, that suggests a config problem. For cod4 there are no separate effects/voice channels sent to windows. Everything is mixed by the game. Did you try moving your main player profile out of the cod4 folder to make a new one with all default settings to see what happens? Do the same for the profile specific to the mod.

Maybe they all have you muted and dont want to hear you. In which case your sol. But yea to go the console in-game and make sure cl_voice is at 1. Also, back up your main player profile to generate a new one. To restore default settings.
