Chicago has been a dangerous place forever. Back in the day, most of the gangs were white though. Same station, different tune. Anyways, the courts are not supposed to have anyones back. They are supposed to unhold the law impartially, as stated above. The question I suppose is whether or not they are being impartial with the facts and not supporting either side. That depends on who you ask. And when.

We have a dangerous society of our own making but too many lean too far one way or another to the extremes. Either they are ok with a police state where the police can do anything with impunity and we have no say. Or they are ok with the wild west and crime run amok where the police cant do much all (or there are no police whatsoever). And of course neither want to face up to their own responsibilities to the way things are. Reasonable people will say that if the cop legitimately fears for his life there arent many options for how he responds and that is that. On the other hand, if it is not legitimate or no fear of death, the cop is not permitted to kill in response. That said, it all still leans towards the cop doing what is necessary with force to subdue the person short of shooting or killing him. You dont get to say that the police can do anything they want or alternatively that they cant do anything at all. But of course its those idiots, like above, that tend to get on cable news and spout to get the ratings and we eat it up.
