Well changing your origin name on the website to include makes the BF4 profile integration work. So.. would be interested to know what your actual Origin username is.

I did ask and was told that the BF4 in-game name is identical to the Origin account name, but this does not actually seem to be correct. Case and point Jay.. you have your Origin as Jay80_NL_XI but your BF4 name is Jay80_NL_XI_ADM Are these data points correct>?

Yes, yes they can.

The website is now setup to allow integration between Battlelog and your website profiles. This will allow you to see game stats from the website and also link straight to a players Battlelog from the forums view. This is largely automatic and all you need to do is have filled in your Origin username in the profile field. Once done this will automatically update once a day (so you may need to wait a while). You can then view this data on the website profile: Probably more useful is the forum integration:

Yeah I think allot of people have been using it through the browser which is has been causing some minor network overload. Going through the downloader gives me more control of throttling.

It's a recent change. We have experienced higher than usual traffic so the methods of accessing the redirect have been reduced to through the Downloader and through in-game.

I have updated the downloader to include the mod. You can 'Check for new files' again and it will download the mod.

@@mickvette I have always found Steam to be very transparent with there methods to be honest and they have a well setup knowledge base. Sorry you're having problems with them. I wouldn't call it a rip off however. You can still try recovering the account without the email by providing Steam support with your details - If you can give information such as the account used to purchase the game it can act as proof of ownership. Generally if you have completely lost control of the account due to no longer having the email address it makes the process a bit more drawn out, but not impossible. You will need to follow a similar protocol to if someone had phished your account. Depending on activity level on the account they will decide on what should be supplied to recover it.

If you can periodically connect that rules out a ban system issue. Unless 3rd party? but that's only slight. Can you perform some tracerts to the server both at a time where you can successfully connect and when you are unable to?

Yeah some infrastructure changes were made, it will only affect people using the old domain.

As advised in their security bulletin our server will no longer allow connections from clients with a version below 3.0.18.1.

@@loaderXI Easily over 80% of secure websites are using SHA1, probably closer to 90%. That means within the next year they all have to reissue their certificates using SHA2 or another supported encryption method. The released collision is not usable but confirms that today's technologies are now able to create collisions and therefore begin to exploit them. Conspiracy theorists will jump saying that governments are most likely already exploiting the encryption method like they did with MD5. For the average user it doesn't matter that much but it certainly shows how encryption is not infallible.

Just for anyone like me and is interested in the security side of computing. SHA-1 has had a collision detected and should now be viewed as an insecure encryption method. The CA's and browser authorities are voting on the matter of how long to honor certificated issued with SHA-1 encryption and it will probably be only to the end of 2016 (https://cabforum.org/pipermail/public/2015-October/006048.html). This is similar to when MD5 collisions started to be detected and a similar process will now take place to remove the functions use from computing. The server is located in Canada so has a 'different perspective' on things

The code of conduct is there as a blanket thing for the entirety of all or services - you have to take some common sense with it as you cannot apply every 'rule' we have to every service. Our different game servers through all the different games have differing rules. The website is a special case where everyone from all the different rule sets meet. We have for a long time removed any political posts to a specific forum and archived all religious posts. This is not generally due to people being 'sensitive' or taking offence. It is because they are strong hearted and fight for what they believe and will lash back even if the post was made in jest. This naturally causes huge issues between people because it is addressing their core values and it basically drums down to everyone segregating based on religion or political views. As with everything however posts like this allow us to see change should be made so it is clearer why we perform such actions and I will discuss with the senior team on adding some posting guidelines on what is acceptable to post and have it added to the bottom bar. It will be quite broad spectrum but may forgo the surprise for some. After all the servers do spam their individual rules in chat or elsewhere and the website does not.
