  1. Well Pete you called them "Assault Rifles" which is not true. And the "Assault Rifle" ban did not ban AR-15's. It banned gun manufacturers from selling weapons with a magazine capacity over 10 rounds. It required a "Fixed" stock and a "Pinned" flash suppressor. Did that do anything to deter "Crazies" ? No. Anyone can go to an auction, gun show or any gun shop (online or brick & mortar) and buy parts to modify it. You can replace the fixed stock with a collapsible one and even change the barrel and purchase "hi capacity" magazines. The AR is the most popular rifle sold and is pretty reasonable in price. So naturally it will be used more often. Columbine was an Aimpoint 995 Mini and other "Non" AR-15 styles weapons. If the most popular car produced cause more vehicular homicides from crazies running people over, do we ban them ???? Where does the banning stop ??? And do not forget it was a "legal" gun owner with an AR-15 that put a stop to the Southerland Springs shooters rampage.
  2. I just wish idiots would stop referring that the AR15 is an "Assault Rifle". AR does not stand for "Assault Rifle". And rifles based on the AR15 lower receiver design, come in many calibers, including shotguns. So to ban a weapon based on looks is asinine. But I do agree the application process for any weapon should be an in depth process. I hold a couple different type of firearms license and the process for them was way, way, more stringent than just buying an over the counter gun. Im talking, fingerprints, registering with the local sheriffs department, and a wait of several months for the detailed background check to get processed. But..... thats for law abiding owners. Criminals dont buy through local gun dealers. In my neck of the woods every weekend there is a gun auction, or an estate auction with guns going on. No background checks at these events. So this debate is pretty much a mute subject.

We will never reach the goal you are describing until we get free renewable energy worldwide. Solar and Wind will not cut it. Nuclear fusion reactors are the way to get us there. If the world would pool together to get a cheap reliable fusion reactor developed, we would get there quick. Think tanks are working on it, but its still a ways out. And maybe by combining resources one could be done sooner. Or if we can find a huge supply of Dilithium Crystals, that would help too
  4. I hope you or a family member are never a victim. Cause if their death could have been prevented by them defending themselves, I suspect your "tune" would change. Those of us with common sense know, getting rid of handguns will not change a damn thing. Take away the guns and they will use whatever they can find to kill. But hey, I respect anyone's decision to not defend themselves and or their loved ones. Just dont count on my gun carrying ass to save you Your choice to be preyed on. Remember its better to own a gun and not need it, then to need a gun and not have one.
  5. And what do you say to the family of those killed by these criminals ? "Sorry, the death of your loved one is a price we pay for not being able to defend ourselves"
  6. We have to blame lack of parenting too. Many times these demented individuals are a product of their upbringing. Or should I say lack of.
  7. AR-15 are not automatic rifles. Crazy how many here think the guns they use in game play are the same. You have to have a "Federal License" to own a fully auto weapon. That application is very involved (I know). Maybe the current BTF application needs to be as vigorous as the "fully auto" application. And if guns suck why do you play war games ? Its a legitimate question, so dont attack my ass for asking.
  8. Unfortunately there is a stigma with the AR-15. AR does not stand for "Assault Rifle". It stands for Armalite Rifle. Armalite is the original manufacturer. While AR-15's made today look like the "Military M4" variant, they are quite different. People should research it and not just make unfounded accusations. The civilian AR15 is not a weapon of war. If you try and make that case, any semi-automatic rifle (which a good majority are) would be a weapon of war. The M4 variant was designed for easy transport. It is the preferred gun of choice for "Farmers and Ranchers" for critter control. And its compact design vs the standard AR15 (the m16 look) or any full sized rifle made it popular. And any rifle made today can be modified with after market parts to make it compact. And the AR-15 is not a good choice for "personal protection" at home. A short barrel pump shot gun is the preferred choice for me.
  9. I dont think Krunch is saying this was staged. Just ignorant to even think so. But I think he is referencing the political part of this. Unfortunately our current administration (last night) has made it a political issue to further their gun control measures. Happens every time there is a mass shooting. And Biden confirmed this in his address to the nation last night. This issue has been going on for DECADES. Even if they reinstate the "Assault Rifle" ban, which limited magazine capacity to 10 rounds, required a fixed stock. and a pinned flash suppressor. Owners can buy surplus hi-capacity magazines, replace the fixed stock, and do other modifications. Biden should have respectfully said "our prayers are with all effected" and left it at that. To me that was very disrespectful. There is time for elected politicians' to debate these issues and now is not the time.
  10. I had to have a kidney stone removed this past January. It got stuck and for two days I was in excruciating pain. Finally they decided to remove it MANUALLY !! Not fun. Anyway they gave me all the good drugs and the only thing that helped was a combo of Morphine and Vicodin. Hell they even gave me Fentanyl and that didn't even touch the pain. But the Morphine/Vicodin combo I must have a high tolerance to these drugs. Must have been all the Quaaludes I ate as a teen But glad your home and doing fine.
  11. Thats cool looking. Looks like a damn Locust !!!! Wait.... maybe "Drones" are what John saw as "Locusts" in The Book of Revelations !!!! Food for thought !!!

  14. I shoot them out of the sky !!!!! I use to fly RC Airplanes and at that time. In the late 1990's. Shit was hard to fly back then. Just like flying an actual plane or helicopter. I spent more time on repairs then flying !!! Now the "gyro's" keep it stable. A child can fly them. Stay away from wooded areas !! Easy to loose radio signal and next thing you know, your $1,000 drone is a squirrel toy.
  15. Isn't that the truth !!!!
  16. EDM's are a godsend too for broken taps and drills. We had two where I retired from. One was from the 70's and the other we had was from the late 90's. Funny everyone hated the new one and loved the old one. I worked in the Aerospace industry for 30 years as a machinist / hand fabricator and those machines were always in use. We also had drill/tap extractors which were hit or miss with getting a broken tap/drill out. They had two or four small steel posts that extended into the flutes of the drill or tap and you backed it out. Would not work on "spiral taps" though.
  17. "Easy Outs" are a mechanics best friend. Lord knows they saved me a lot of headaches throughout the years.
  18. My cousin with Glowstik Willy performing some Holiday cheer. My cousin Chris is the one singing. Santa !! Kids pretty good.

  20. Sorry. But Bob Dylan sucks !!!
  21. I had to upgrade 3 of our office computers from 7pro to 10pro. Everything went smoothly. I still have several pc's with 7pro, due to legacy VST's apps I use to create music. Those I will leave at 7 till I have no choice. Staying away from 11 till, again, I am forced to do so. But 10 went really smooth during the upgrade.
  22. Decriminalization just passed the House. I guess we will see where this goes in the Senate. Makes no difference to me, I have my med card. But to be able to grow your own "legally" !!! Thats a game changer.
  23. Ambulance vs Amblance. Antenna vs Antanna. Push vs Poosh.
