  1. Yes, it is horrible what has happened to little towns around East Tennessee, Western N and S Carolina, as well as Florida. Climate change (the warmer the earth the bigger the storms, the worse the droughts, the larger the snow storms, more widespread forest fires, etc.) is happening. We (humans civilization time frame) were living in what I would call the goldilocks time... just the right temperatures for humans to thrive. I think that if we prepare for these changes we can adapt, humans are great at adapting. So when a town has to rebuild, hopefully they learned to not build in a flood zone, to build UP, to fireproof buildings on and on and on. Simple solutions like --> Elevate your home: Raising your home above the base flood elevation can protect it from flooding in areas prone to rising sea levels and storm surges. Reinforce your roof: Installing hurricane straps or clips, sealing roof decks, and using wind-resistant shingles can help protect your home from high winds and storms. https://www.forbes.com/sites/nextavenue/2021/02/18/how-you-can-prepare-for-climate-change/ Best advice I can give is for everyone to have insurance... If you live in a flood zone you must have flood insurance. As for everyone suffering from Helene Hurricane, bless you all, I hope help comes quickly.
  2. And to think we are considering moving back to the DC area this time on the chesapeake bay .......... I know......... but I miss it. https://www.woodwellclimate.org/how-climate-change-is-affecting-hurricanes/?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw9eO3BhBNEiwAoc0-jQNSCE1mTLx-Tcv2m-kgijsCrEgxIXSoPm9fbBT5Y88u0yzTc4pQ0xoCHdYQAvD_BwE
  3. imho, the admins and slightly under them in rank mods are our police monitoring the servers and keeping order. that said, this is just a game and we are just playing, so seems to me the rules are more like guidelines, and we need to give our admins and mods our respect and observe them in game. if they say don't do something, then don't do it. if they don't run a vote cause you don't like that particular map and ask for it, maybe they did not see the message or whatever, let it be. i know this is war gaming and we shoot at each other day after day in game and folks can get upset about this and that, but we are here gaming (with this group of rather silly folks) for fun and to relax and forget about the real world and to try to laugh and be happy. Woot woot, let's be happy! I love this silly group, what a great clan it is, thanks Rugger! NOW. Off to shoot and kill ya'll. Yeehaw.
  4. Thank you LOCO, and please hurry back. Thank you for all your mods to the maps, for all your leadership and expertise. Big hug.
  5. Huh? Tarantulas live in a variety of habitats around the world, including deserts, rainforests, and scrubland: Burrows: Tarantulas often live in underground burrows that they line with silk webbing to keep out dirt and sand. Ground: Some tarantulas live on the ground under rocks, logs, or tree bark. Trees: Some tarantulas live in webbed burrows in trees. Caves: Some species of tarantulas live in caves and have adapted to be blind, relying on sensory hairs on their legs to sense their surroundings. Crops: Some tarantula species live in crops like bananas and pineapples. Tarantulas are found on all continents except Antarctica, but most are found in South America. Their color and behavior vary depending on their environment. Tarantulas are nocturnal hunters that eat insects, frogs, toads, mice, and small birds. They use their venom to paralyze their prey and then suck up the juices with their mouthparts. While their venom is fatal to their prey, it's only comparable to a bee sting for humans. oh come on, that is a beanie baby not a REAL tarantula, right?...

  11. I remember when you and your brother were just tots... learning to game, look how you have grown up. All adult-like and everything. Now get back in those maps soldier, and bring your funky chicken dad in too so we can shoot at you.
  12. may I recommend replacing the Semi-Sweet chocolate chips in photo with Bittersweet Chocolate Chips? Semisweet and bittersweet chocolate are both considered types of dark chocolate. Yet semisweet chocolate contains less cacao than bittersweet, making it taste sweeter than bittersweet chocolate. When purchasing bittersweet chocolate, you might notice that it has a higher cocao percentage and less sugar.
  13. Bless all their hearts, was supposed to be the war to end all wars.... NOT. Humans, very dangerous. Now off to play my war game... The First World War destroyed empires, created numerous new nation-states, encouraged independence movements in Europe's colonies, forced the United States to become a world power and led directly to Soviet communism and the rise of Hitler.Jun 2, 2014

  19. I did a search for recipes and did not find a thread, so made this one. Maybe add "recipes" to the original thread title? I seem to love anything Chef John makes (you tube - FOODWISHES) link --> https://www.youtube.com/user/foodwishes/videos
  20. Here is my favorite Cincinnati Chili recipe, we use Organic ground beef from Costco, make huge batches and freeze in individual portions for quick meals. I like the crackers from Skyline Oyster Crackers on top as well, the Red Hoop Cheddar also from Costco, and am generous with the unsweetened chocolate and cinnamon (Cinnamon is so very healthy for us and under utilized imho.) I make it 4-way chili. Served with iced tea (peach) or beer. Dessert = Chocolate Chip cookies (Tates from Costco) ta da! https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/206953/authentic-cincinnati-chili/ 2-Way: Chili + spaghetti 3-Way: Chili + spaghetti + shredded Cheddar cheese 4-Way: Chili + spaghetti + diced onions + shredded Cheddar cheese 5-Way: Chili + spaghetti + red kidney beans + diced onions + shredded Cheddar cheese. tip = Overnight option: After boiling the meat, remove the pan from the heat and let cool. Refrigerate the beef in the pan overnight. The next day, skim the solid fat from the top of the pan and discard. Skimming the fat makes this a healthier version than most, and gives it the right consistency.
  21. OK I will start. After researching lots of different recipes in search of a great homemade coconut chicken Thai soup (Tom Kha Gai), I kinda combined three different recipes and added some other things, trying to get that specific flavor, texture and look I love... SUCCESS!!! But... I did not write it down oops... But here is a photo. I will be working on the recipe maybe will include it here once finished.
