Sue with all the time you wasted  "FORMAT" Like Larsin told you.I don't fuck around with that try this and try that stuff.Format and you will be sure.My youngest son used to fuck me up all the time.I also have 2 external drives to back up pics and music and patches.I reinstall all my games from scratch and other programs I have.I allways write down my passwords(i use only one) for just about everything except my mail.Makes it simpler.Don't know about vista but W7 goes in in about 20 -25 mins. Then the other shit takes the time. You know; the service packs and updates.Don't forget all of your drivers.Yup you would of been done by now.

With that one its best to do a complete reformat and install of the OS.  Literally deleting your partition when booting with the vista disk, and letting vista install repopulate a partition on the drive for you during install.  As with all fixes there is always ways this program will attach to other system files, and reformating is the best fix.

renaming the malwarebytes install file before installing it in safemode worked for me on 3 different pc's all with that virus.

after running in safemode, it removed enough of the virus to let MB run in normal windows. it completely fixed 2 of the 3, with the 3rd one still having the web hijacker to oddball stuff for search results. they wanted a new pc anyway, so that just gave them the excuse they wanted, so it was still a happy customer. these were all XP systems, if that makes any difference.

hope you got it resolved by now anyway.
