Looks as if either would be good. I think the warranty on the WD is 5 yrs and the Seagate is 3 yrs. Then you have to think about heat generation. I know that the unit has a fan but is is enough for the usage you are going to have with it. Other than that, I would go with the better deal that I could find. Hope that helps.

u use the nas only for sharing medias ?

i would use it for backup important stuff, this means u need a really trustful hd.

i personally would go for something like a server hd, ok it may be like twice the price but at least u can be sure it will be ok.

i wont for my part trust samsung for a nas

I'm thinking to setup the NAS as a JBOD. I will have my pics, movies and software saved for redundancy on both hdd and in the same time i will used to access media on my wireless home network. For that i need a good reliable hdd. So...I think i will go with WD BLACK!

I hope the wd black will not overheat inside NAS !

Maybe later i will have a cpu dedicated only as a media player for my hd tv behinde my tv stand!

THX everybody !

I'd recommend the WD caviar Black,  mine is 750 GB and it wasn't very expensive.
