For some reason when I have been booted from WAW because I had left my Spyware Doctor running when I came back I had a series of servers listed in my Favorites that are just 0's. See attached pic:

http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l239/Shamupa/IMAG0004.jpg

When it first happens Favorites like XI are gone and I have to go to the Internet search to add them to Favorites again. The 0's just live their as uninvited guests.

How the heck can I get rid of them?

Highlighting and Delete will not do it.

They are not in the Player/Profile folder because I move that between my PC's to stay current on each and this issue only is on the PC have in my Pocono house. Also they show up regardless of Player name selected.

I have looked in the WAW folder and see nothing reflecting anything to do with favorites and it does not matter which mod I am in.

Suggestions? This is like anything I have ever seen or heard before.

Nice 1 Shamu.  Don't know how you got that because that is new to me.  Have not seen that before.  At times when I have been booted between map loads, the server IP address' are showing and not the name, I end having to restart the game but never seen what you got.  Will do searching and see what we can find.  As long as the game plays, that's priority.

I have had this for sometime now. Initially I had four 0 servers. Yesterday I came in with Spyware Doctor running and could not get in. PB and Spyware Doctor do not get along even in game mode.

I shut off Spyware Doctor and then when I joined I had even more 0 servers. It seems all existing favorites get changed to 0 and then cannot be deleted.

I am pleased this is not some noobie or computer illiterate issue. At least I am coming up with something rare and unusual.

Appreciate you guys looking into this.

Perhaps if I transfer one folder at a time from WAW on my Pocono PC to another PC with WAW I can, by a process of elimination identify the problem folder.

When that is done just get rid of the problem folder and paste a good one into the Pocono PC.

All PC's used the same CD for the install.

Have you tried refreshing the master server list by going to internet (instead of favorites ) and then refreshing ??

Ok so I don't think its your game I'm thinking its a firewall problem or router issue? First get rid of spy doctor crap olla should be called problem creator doctor. Make sure your game has permission to go through the fire wall. Second reboot your router and modem and see what happens. What else you got running for anti virus soloutions ?

I run Microsofts Security Essentials all the time. PC Tools Spyware Doctor on occasion. But I do the same on all 3 of my PC's. The one at my Pocono house if the one with the problem.

I transfer my Players folder from one PC to the other and the problem does not transfer. Also tried transferring the Mod folder and that had no effect. Did not have a large enough flash drive to move the main folder. I will do that next. If I can recreate the problem on another PC I can then identify the folder containing the problem and get rid of it.

If I can't narrow it down to a folder I will just save my Players folder and reinstall the game. After the reinstall I will swap out the Players folder and be back up to date minus mods and maps which is no problem.

The issue does not hurt my gaming other than annoying me because it's not right.

Not yet, later this week I will be copying the Main folder to a flash drive to see if I can recreate the problem on a PC that is okay.

If I can narrow it down to a specific folder I can then get dump the buggered folder and replace it with a good one.

I do know the Players and Mod folders are not the issue. Have already swapped them around.

You might also want to try reloading the patches as I remember there were 3 times they fixed something to do with server browser 1.2 1.3 can't remember the other. I'll try to find a post about the patches tommorow for you.

I am copying my Main folder from my home PC, which has no problems, and will paste it into my PC in the Poconos later today.

If the 0's disappear I will at least know the problem was in the Main folder. If that is the case I will also keep a backup Main folder elsewhere on my PC.

Well, that did not work.............file size when copied was over 5 GB. When I went to paste it in, well under 5 and did not work.

Maybe some files you are not allowed to copy and paste.

I give up, this problem is beyond my ability to comprehend.

I do think the issues began when I forgot to turn of Spyware Doctor and the game would lock up.

When I would turn off the spyware and rejoin I had these 00000000 IP servers that cannot be deleted.

Does not cause me problems other than being annoying.

I just might delete the game an reinstall. First I might delete Spyware Doctor and see if that helps.

I can't remember but I think the game has a repair utility on the disk when you try to reload it. Last chance idea I guess

I have the same issue on COD4, happened a long time ago and I've never been able to fix it (didn't try very hard).   I don't think it's specifically related to Spy Doctor 'cause I don't have that program.  I have about the same number of zeroed entries though.  Smile  Glad I'm not the only idiot!

Found this, but haven't tried it yet:

I had the same problem. Your servercache file has been corrupted, probably from a system crash.

Go to Program Files>Activision>COD4 folder. In there you will find a file named "servercache". Rename it.

Then launch the game. Your faves will be clear and you can move ahead. A new servercache file will automatically be created.

Will give it a try when I get to my Pocono PC.

I shall also copy my servercache file from a working PC to a flash drive to paste if needed.

Whoot!

That was it, the servercache.dat file was the problem.

I did as the instruction said, opened WAW and all servers were gone including Internet. Did a Refresh, added the XI servers to favorites and it is game on without all those annoying 00000's sitting in my Favorites. I also deleted the renamed file and good riddance to bad rubbish.

Thanks Pharticus for the heads up post and the same to Labob for his efforts.
