(I made two but the fact that Rugger looks scary in a ski mask should not come as any surprise! ). BF3 does not like AVG Internet Security 2012 performing definitions updates when the game is running. It causes the game to halt and stop running. The fix (I hope) is to disable automatic updates in the anti-virus program or schedule them so they do not occur when you are playing. Loving this game! Gradually learning how to fly fixed wings... The task would be easier if that Cobryis didn't keep interrupting the flying lessons by shooting me down...
 Awards

My suggestion would be to pick a day of the month or week to manually update your programs and save the resources. There isn't anything that critical that it needs to check for an update several times a day.

It is the full paid-for suite, by the way, and you lack any shred of information to suggest I don't know what I am talking about, Grey', frankly. A bit like a doctor diagnosing a patient without even visiting him. I'm trying to be helpful by posting the problem and the fix.
 Awards

There isn't anything that critical that it needs to check for an update several times a day. I use Turbo Mode of TuneUp Utilities to shut down all non-essential background tasks. The one thing it cannot stop, however, is the behaviour of browser add-ons. Because the Battle Log in BF3 is browser-based, one can get the odd annoying "an update is available for your toolbar" message in the middle of your game screen. That, however, doesn't halt the game but just your ability to play till you dismiss the dialogue.
 Awards
