Due to usage restrictions, the site won't display the video but it has been on the TV news here too.

I don't know how repeatedly kicking a man on the ground could be thought of as "self-defence", personally...

It certainly is "violent conduct" and the ref only had one sanction available under the laws of the game - the red card.

Footballers need to learn a little self-restraint.

Here's another video:

Yeah, it's amazing when you get to see the actual event how the story changes from a "wronged" sportsman to a violent reactor. I am not sure I would have been able to restrain myself in that situation although once the security boys were on the scene, I would have backed away and not proceeded to try to lay one into the 'nads like he did.

It isn't without precedent in England (though this example is not so overtly violent).

See "Dorchester Town Football Club has appealed against a red card shown to their player-manager for tackling a pitch invader dressed in a mankini."  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-12717223

That red card was well deserved by the goalie in my humble opinion

Red card was overturned  and the game will be play again without  public  and started with 0-0

That  idiot attack the goalkeeper   so  no problem for me  that he kicked him  , selfdefense

If he'd have left the pitch invader alone after tripping him, I expect he would have perhaps continued to play?

It shows what a tough job referees have occasionally.
