Some examples: - News Flash: Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer felt "threatened" by President Obama in an exchange at the Phoenix airport. Threatened? What, did he tell her he would beat the shit out of her? Why is what she "felt" newsworthy? Enough of this touchy-feely crap disguised as news. - News Flash: Trump "would love to debate Obama." Who gives a rat's ass what this conceited, hedonistic dickwad thinks about anything. Why does media continually seek his opinion? He's a self-indulgent jerk and his viewpoints are of no more value than those of the beggar in the street. We had the same crap with media constantly chasing extortionists and proven liars Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson's opinions on issues affecting African Americans, when neither of them were in any position to represent or speak for the black community. - News Flash: Kim Kardashian steps out in what appears to be faux fur. Remember the bill that would give the president a "button" to shut down the Internet? Well, we need one of those buttons, but it would be to shut down any "news" report about bimbos, bitches and belching bastards who don't matter and have done nothing that would make them matter. It seems that media always has to have some worthless piece of shit to focus on and bore us with until we're sick to our stomachs of it, whereupon they move to yet another worthless piece of shit to bore us with, and so on and so on. - News Flash: Egypt bans Americans from leaving. This is about a half-dozen Americans who are in Egypt "promoting democracy." Those who stick their noses in some other country's business, on their own soil, deserve what they get. You don't want to be arrested in a foreign country which is political turmoil? Then DON'T GO there you dumb shit. Same with the two young "hikers" snatched by Iran on their border that cost us millions in payoffs - any American civilian stupid enough to walk along the Iranian border when we're unofficially at war with that country deserves to rot in their prisons - ask, and ye shall receive. And, same with the the American missionary kidnapped in Somalia. I love it that we killed every one of the kidnappers the other day but I wouldn't have put them at risk for someone who had no fucking business in a country like that, especially when spreading their brand of religion. If God wants Somalians to worship Him, He can turn half of the residents of Mogadishu into salt, or do a Sodom and Gomorrah on them. - News Flash: Iraq suicide blast kills dozens in Baghdad. So what? Who cares? Let's do this, media, let's not bore us with ANYTHING that happens in Iraq. We're out of there and we could give a shit. Let's put an "Iron Curtain" around that country, and drop our inventory of retired arms and ammunition in by air, and let them kill each other over their religious and tribal bullshit. And when the smoke clears and there's a clear winner, give us a shout and we'll drop the curtain. Awards

"Newspaper" is a word that embellishes the rubbish printed these days. There are still people willing to believe what is printed in them - can you believe that?! They are all owned by vested interests of various political persuasions so one is rarely going to read something not tainted by spin. The publishers complain that their circulations are falling... Oh really?? They don't say... The papers are useful for wrapping up food waste and lining kitty litter trays but little else. I rely on online sources for real news - Reuters and PA are good to see the raw stories before some "journalist" mutates them into fiction. Even so, I tend to verify anything before allowing it to raise my blood pressure too much. I was once telephoned by a major UK tabloid newspaper about a recent case one of my colleagues had dealt with. I refused to discuss it and referred him to our Press Officer at HQ. "If you won't talk to us, we'll make it up", said the hack. And, guess what...they did! Celeb "news"? I'm with you - who gives a sh*t?! If they do something worthwhile for humanity, I want to read about it, not if they break a nail or buy a new hat. Awards

It's about opinions, and how YOU should think. I've had the opportunity the last few days to check out daily news. About 2 minutes in the morning is all you need. You got ALL the facts for the day. The rest is a collage of crap continuously repeated ad nauseum all day. BTW, does your pet guillotine have a name? Gigi? Franci? Michelle? Just curious mind you............ Awards

Personally, I think it is the wild growth of the internet & cable. Don't get me wrong, the internet & cable aren't inherently "bad" things. But with the massive proliferation of alternatives, "news" agencies and media have to get more extreme & provocative, to get the attention (aka: ratings) that used to come easy when there were fewer alternatives. To media, ratings = profit or loss, life or death (as an entity). What has happened, is that media outlets have targeted certain specific audiences, as media consumers are very partitioned into specific groups with specific interests. Sex sells, violence & confrontation sells, partisanship sells - and demand drives supply in the mass-media market. While I agree that the media has devolved into shit.... all they are doing is serving up what the people want. I think it is more of a reflection of people's declining expectations & floundering societal morality than anything else. And the same is true all over the world, NOT just here.
