I knew what she going to say WHAT DID YOU DO TO IT it worked fine for me yesterday . Any ways I get a ... primary hard disk 0 not found strike F1 key to continue ,F2 key to run the setup utility . when I hit F1 it does nothing , the utility setup has primary drive 0 ... unknown device . I tried but failed at putting the windows xp disc in to try repair with no success . took the case opened it cleaned it made sure all cables are secure . fired it up same thing ...primary hard disc 0 not found . this is a 10 year old computer (i know it's old ) that has seen better days . told my wife if i can get it going i'll buy another computer and put the info from this one on to it .this dell is are home computer the one i'm on here typing this up is my gaming computer NO ONE TOUCHES IT . You will need to replace that hard drive and doubt you will be able to get the data off that machine. I can give you a utility to verify that. Wish I had a drive to send you. I'm a computer idiot somewhat . what will this utility do ? tell me if HD is toast ? my newer computer is vista installing it on this one will there be a problem cause the old one has xp installed on it ? also when it asks me in repair or recovery ...which windows installation would you like to log onto (to cancel , press ENTER>? But i am pretty sure the drive is toast. If you got a second drive as you say.. that would be the best option. Just install xp on it and get all the drives. I will pm you my number if you have questions or snags. I've changed it about a year ago maybe 2 year at most .the last one stopped working , so as the harddrive fired up it just shut back off . now in bios my primary drive is unknown ? got me . thanks for trying to help me guys . .
