Am just curious what the consensus is if I get a SSD hard drive if it would work in an older pc say about maybe 6 years old. I need to buy one for my daughters and if it will work would consider getting a small one for it. Just wanted a consensus first!

It will work, but will you will not get 100% performance.  That being said you will draw less power and will see a slight performance boost.  You do have to make sure that your current drive has a sata connector and not the old IDE 2 inch connector.  It will cost you though!

A SSD in an older PC or Laptop is great and gives you a nice boost when you run programs.

Although yes, you might have a SATA 2 controller, but it would be fine. The speed would be like 2,5 faster rather than a conventional harddrive.
