I have an HP printer with a built in wireless modem. Months ago I switched from AT&T DSL to cable and while it improved my ping it still wasn't great. My HP printer was always in the same room with my wireless router for the DSL, and when I got cable the router was in a different room. Yesterday I moved the printer into the same room as the cable modem and my ping immediately went up with lots of spikes. All I did was hard-wire the printer directly into the cable modem and turned off the wireless feature on the printer. It appears that the wireless signal from the printer was messing up the wireless signal from the cable modem and effecting our speed. The picture below shows what my signal looked like with the printer wireless on, and as you can see it levels off when I turned off the printer modem. Problem solved! Any way did I ever tell you the story about the country boy who after a great day fishing on his boat comes in packs up his fish in a bucket of water to keep them alive..Well anyway as he was about to depart a game warden comes up and says he needs to see his fishing license .... To which the country boy replies I aint need no license these here fish are ma pets I bringsem here every day for a swim then whistle fur em to come back and they swim right up in ma net and then I takes em back home The warden says oh really so them fish are your pets and you expect me to believe that huh To which the country boy replies What you aint believen me I show ya follow me The warden says oh ok prove it To which the country boy places the fish back in the water and sets them loose Few minutes go by and the warden says what ya waiting for call them back To which the country boy replies call who back ? My cable service comes in at 105mb on a regular basis - though is about to go up to 120mb. Pings are still a little higher than i would like - but then hey - I couldn't hit a barn door without standing at it so who gives a ****!
