Running @ 2.4ghz, it certainly breathed new life into the old socket 939 motherboard. Played COD4 last night with all graphics maxed out (1440x900) and it ran sweet. Guess it's time to install WAW again. Everything ran lovely under WinXP, but Win7 taxed the old Athlon, and I didn't bother to install anything past COD2 & 4. Nice to see a cheap upgrade have dramatic results......for once. deerejon, iEvil, PingLo and 1 other 4 Awards

You all live at Fork Knox? Cherries cost a fortune and you're eating 'em like there were going out of style! Add insult to injury, then you shit them! *arrrrrgggghhhh* That RAM thing is only part true on an XP box. Much past 2GB, XP starts ignoring or misappropriating, so be careful, not wasteful - memory hurts like hell coming out the other end. Sergeant Fist 1 Awards

If you're not sure which version you're running, check the sticker on your computer. It will say the version there beside your license key; you may right-click "My Computer" and click "Properties." The window that pops up will tell you which version of XP you're running. XP Home The Home edition of Windows XP---the edition that came with most machines home users bought from the likes of Dell and HP, before Windows Vista---supports only one processor. This means if you want to install more than one processor and you run Windows XP Home, you may need to switch to Professional, or upgrade Windows to a newer version with support for multiple processors. XP Professional If you want to use two processors, Windows XP Professional is the way to go. While this advanced program cannot run more than two processors, this is an improvement over Home. Note that, because dual-core processors count as a single processor, you could theoretically have four cores with this license or even eight, if you are willing to buy two quad-core processors. Came back from a short vacation & XP wouldn't boot. Boot sector was F*cked up Beyond All Recognition & I had to boot under a Linux kernel to save crucial data off my old hard drive. While things were down, I downloaded a trial version of Win7 Pro to see if my system could handle the switch. Yes, but COD4 suffered a little frame-rate wise under 7. Ordered a 32 bit copy of Win7 Pro, loaded onto my 300 gig HD, and went back to gaming. The Opteron was identified immediately under BIOS, and Win7 installed the necessary drivers to operate as a dual core. One reboot later, I'm running COD4 @ 50-90fps 1440x900 resolution. Suits me, I still intend to build a new rig, but time constraints w/work are robbing me of play-time. I was content to run XP for a decade, but was missing out on DirectX improvements and it was time for a change. Wish now I had purchased the 64bit version of Windows, but whatta ya do. Makes yer decisions on the fly & regrets later. Awards
